  1. In the process of removing a few bits of interior trim so I can have them sprayed piano black, is there a central thread for any other OEM+ bits and pieces you can do? I'd like to look at other things like different auto shifters, sunglasses holder, GTi wiper arms etc... that are fairly cheap and easy to do. This thread could hopefully link off to other 'How To' threads.
  2. Any way of hiding the IC? You could have a proper sleeper on your hands there. So much want!
  3. Nah then Danny! JOM or FK will be fine. Not brilliant, but fine. It'll ride the same as VMAXX coilovers I had on mine. I'm going to -40mm springs with 16" wheels as an alternative to closing the arch gap.
  4. My old focus ST. 325hp & 440lb/ft. Going from this to my 1.4S Auto Lupo was pretty shocking I put the car bra on purely because the owners ub hated it. Due to the imminent arrival of a new adidition to our family i has to get something more practical, so bought a Golf GTI For people a bit longer in the tooth this was my old polo, frequently seen around GTi Inters and Donny show (when it was actually in doncaster)
  5. Bump strips Spray VW badges Remove tailgate badges Coilovers 2nd hand wheels Paint a few interior bits You'll get all that for significantly less than a grand and you can do it in little bits as you can afford it. Save your money from an exhaust/performance mods until your older and can buy a quicker car.
  6. I had smoothed doors on my Polo. It was an effing nightmare. Weld a panel over the recess for the handle, then add a solenoid to open the door, I had my button under the wing mirror. Its great until your battery goes flat. If you want to smooth out the sides get some Audi 80 door handles instead. Its a bitch of a job though.
  7. You do the rear lights with red tint spray? Only a few quid off ebay.
  8. Are you aware that you will fail an mot with a decat fitted, theres also a fair chance that your insurance will be void with one fitted.
  9. Another good shout. Always found the mx5 lacking in grunt though, but suppose it depends what your looking for. Benefit to the 5 is theres loads of 'em dirt cheap.
  10. Fez ST150 will surprise a lot of cars on track. With the JS300 conversion you'll be taking major scalps. Alternatives include standard Saxo VTS or 106 GTi if you can find a decent unmolested one. Scooby? Sub £2k for a bug eye track rat now.
  11. You can buy light smoke spray which will darken them a bit, bit standard tails are so red you need a lot of paint to colour them. To go for the full 'murdered out' look you need proper tint film. One alternative is to tint spray them red, to 'hide' the white circle, or go for fly eye vinyl.
  12. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/231161427690 I have no words.
  13. Its a good shout, but a bit more than I wanted to spend. I put the stereo in for the missus so she could listen the iphone in the car, turns out she doesn't use it so was going to put the standard tape deck back in, then thought i might as well get something cd/mp3 as a minimum. Ideally I'd want a stereo with an Aux input. I also have a 6 disc changer from my Mk5 Golf GTi thats not being used.
  14. I'm thinking of ditching my aftermarket Pioneer stereo in favour of something more OEM looking. If I picked up something from the VW range, such as the RCD200 am i likely to encounter any problems?
  15. Can anyone recommend a good/cheap place to pick up some Apex -40mm lowering springs for my 1.4S Lupo Auto? Seen a few sets on the bay but a lot of the sellers look a bit suspect.
  16. Lower it first. Doesn't really matter but after market wheels at standard height looks pants!
  17. So why waste the money? If your bothered about the sound buy a sub.
  18. I reckon it'll consist of the following: - a 20vT engine cover - a massive radiator painted in hammerite silver - one of those whistley turbo things you bolt to your intake - a dyno print out from Dastek's website.
  19. Nice. Have you got any pics of the wheels fitted? Don't suppose you still have the wheels/adaptors?
  20. Ford Recaros are some of the comfiest sports seats around. I'd defo look at getting them retrimmed though.
  21. Also, can someone check my working out? 7x16 alloys et65 20mm adaptors 4x100 - 5x130 should correct the offset to 45, which is only 5mm off from standard. Lower offset = more poke? Run 195/40r16 tyres. Does that make sense?
  22. I've bought a set of -40mm springs and plan to get a set of 7x16" Porsche 928 wheels. Will i need to modify the arches before fitting? Am I better looking for another style of 15" wheel? Can't go stupid low as the car needs to be practical, but i'd like to fill as much arch gap as I can get away with.
  23. JBS quoted me £8000 for a drive in/drive out OEM style swap. They included sourcing and re-building an engine in that though.
  24. Good to meet you tonight, car looked loads better in the flesh. Hopefully chat for a bit longer when the weather is better!
