  1. i honestly dont know, he drove off and to me it sounded like it had a dump valve, again im no mechanic so i cant be sure but as he drove off someone shouted 'haha diesel dump valve' so thats all i have to go on!
  2. yep, nailing it past people who are going far too slow or have slower cars haha! like for example my friend in his 1.0! thanks, i started this thread with gaining your respect in mind his diesel dump valve sounded like a cat meow-ing! hahaha
  3. i'll buy a TDI then haha! and because i'm a 'tool' yes, i am going to have it lowered!
  4. and i'll have to keep the gearbox well looked after too?
  5. so, to sum it all up, im going to need thousands of pounds to make either one a little bit faster? haha brilliant, think i'll just get the sport, do it up real nice aesthetically, do some very light modifications, such as new induction kit, new exhaust system, slam it, and occasionally blast by my friend in his 1.0...good idea? thanks everyone though for putting their views across, cleared up most of my queries anyway about both!
  6. thats the kind of power id be looking to get out of the tdi too! is the extra power of the sport over a 1.0 noticable much?? twice the powr and significantly quicker! or would it not be as forceful on acceleration as im imagining it to be?? tbfair i do drive a 1.0...so anything would be quicker haha
  7. well regardless of what car i get, i will get them remapped with new exhaust/cat/manifold etc. but the tdi attracts me because i really want to see if it could have a dump valve on it...a friend has a diesel mondeo st thing, and that has a dump valve which sounds pretty nice! would the tprque of the diesel make it a better car for over takes? what not with high torque and the turbo? or would the petrol's power advantage make it the better choice? i really only would want one over the other if one is quicker, better for nailing it past people.
  8. yh thats what ive been told, if i get the tdi it will be remapped, new exhaust, sports cat, sports manifold, was advised to get a high cam shaft thingy? cant remember what it actually is but it involved cam and higher haha same kind of thing would happen to a petrol sport if i got one
  9. hello, i am looking to upgrade from a 1.0 lupo to something like a 1.4. i am currently torn between a 1.4 16v sport, or a 1.4 tdi sport! my reasons for getting each car are, in my mind,: petrol sport - its faster standard than the diesel, it has the lovely center exhaust, and it wont sound all chuggy and it will rev long and hard and it will be quite good for me to modify. reasons for getting the tdi- cheaper to insure, tax, more economical? it has a turbo ( could i fit a dump valve to it still??) it can be modified more effectively and cheaply (ive been told) they both practically look the same, but i am torn between them. any advice as to which one to choose? i have been told to get the diesel as it will save me more money in the long run, but as im 19 i dont really know if i want a diesel, even if it has a turbo! anither thing, will the extra torque from the diesel make it a quicker car in the real world i.e. quick overtakes? thank you, completely clueless really about it all.
  10. my mate is the owner of a bosch service place aha! turns out a lead fro sparkplugs had snapped and almost destroyed the coil pack, he reolaced all leads and splugs, did some other things that needed to be done and my car is allll fine now! finding it really tricky to get hold of a sport lupo though! far and few between really!
  11. should have been almost double that for the work, but a very good friend is the director of a mot center/garage! yh i really want a black one! found a few but either too far away or out of my budget!
  12. cheers mate, it went to the garage today, and one of the sparkplugs had gone and i think he said coil pack leak or soemthing! all fixed for 100 quid. now selling my car haha! been driving it for 2 years, want to get a 1.4 16v sport. preferably in black...
  13. hello, i drive a 1.0 lupo, and ever since ive had it, the warning light with a lighting bolt and check running through it has been on, ive owned it for 2 years, and ive had it looked at and was told there wouldn't be much point fixing the problem because it would cost too much for what it was (very good friend is a garage owner) and that it wasn't a problem really, so the light then went out after being checked, but came back on within a few days. that was last summer. no problems at all with the car what so ever, up until Sunday evening on my way home from work. started it up, and it sounded like it was a tractor! sounded like it was running on one less cylinder than it had that morning ( im not a mechanic or anything....) and i noticed a significant lack in power while driving it, like it had gone into 'get-me-home-safety' mode or something. the engine warning light, which had never previously blinked or flashed, started flashing for a few minutes after i switched the ignition on! never seen it flash before! so all of that added together really worried me. so, drove home, about 11 miles, normal speeds, mostly b-a roads, and checked the oil....absolutely none...(****...) topped it up, sat it there idling to get the oil around, still sounding like a tractor. left it idling a while longer, drove it about my estate, switched it off and left it over night. came home tonight from being out, it still sounds awful, still has very little power and idles horrendously and makes the car vibrate and shake while doing so. no idea what is wrong with it. help. please, thank you.
  14. i live in hastings and i go to eastbourne on thurs evenings as there is a car gathering there! nope dont recall seeing your car mate but shall look out for it if ever i am over that way
  15. ok mate cheers, he has gone to bromley to look at one atm but thanks anyway! yh need a few more, i know of only 3 around where i live.
