  1. I'll give that a go then dirt and I can't see the headlight housing on euro car parts
  2. Ouch, well I only paid £50 for the pair and one is fine. It looks like the laminate is peeling at the top, I was thinking could a wet and dry then polish cure it then maybe a bit of light black laminx to hide it?
  3. Going to put the sidelights where the indicators are in the GTI headlight, got them for a bargain price, but the drivers side glass is peeling at the top of the light, so I was wondering if I could use my old lights to repair it or buy a new lens?
  4. Just got a set of xenon headlights, but one of the lights has a damaged lens, is the standard light lens the same as the GTI so I could swap them over?
  5. A lot more expensive than £7, do VW sell them?
  6. Sorry to revive this thread, but does anyone know if you can still get these repair clips?
  7. No central locking! So yes, that's completely normal
  8. The main issue for me now is finding the other £30, I only budgeted for the £80 and I'm skint aha! The idea to get it done at the garage was because I have been working and need the car for Christmas day, which I now can't and I could I have had it done myself.
  9. Not yet, going down after dinner, but he said that's the price and he thought the extra wasn't too much more...
  10. £30 an hour they said after the work was done It failed on the handbrake and they said to rectify the problem they've put on new rear shoes only, no springs, cable or anything else.
  11. Is it worth disputing the fact he didn't mention VAT, the fact he still went over without VAT and that Halfrauds charge less for their brakes for life!
  12. Took the loop to garage on Saturday and it failed on the handbrake and was then told it would be a maximum of £80 and even I specified on the phone £80 and no more. I then get a phone call later on to tell me that the car needed new rear shoes and the cost is £110, I express my anger to be told "it's only an extra £10 and then VAT on top". At no point did he mention on the phone the original £80 wasn't including VAT and the fact that I said no more is annoying. Does £110 for shoes on 1.0 not sound excessive?
  13. Gunk can gather up on the oil cap if the car isn't used much, think it's condensation. It happened on my lupo when I did a load of short journeys in a month but then a few motorways drives and a 100 mile round trip cleared it up. Also if the water level is fine and there's no gunk/oil in there you should be ok. Maybe use it as an excuse to knock them down £100 or so?
  14. Best to get your first year out of the way, I was with Co-op on their black box scheme, and mods were a big no no But now on my second year and to declare coilovers it was only about an extra £38 with Admiral!
  15. Do GTI seats fit in these, thought they had different rails?
  16. I agree, it's only worth it if you're doing a lot of miles in your car, in which case a diesel would be a better choice, but if its just for being "Eco" it's not really worth it in the long run, savings wise.
  17. I like the bouncyness of coils Comfort? meh.
  18. New clutch and release baring. Forgot to mention, its a 1.4 8v box in a 1.0.
  19. Got a used box fitted in the end, but now in fifth gear the box makes a very faint whining noise. The oil is full and it isn't leaking. Also it's a 1.4 8v box if that has anything to do with it?
  20. Picked up some Golf Recaros, but the fabric is more pink than red, wondering the best way to bring back the colour?
