  1. Depends, but you could get a Fuji S9500 for around £100 refurbed.
  2. I used Fuji bridge cameras before moving onto a DSLR. I made the leap as I really wanted to control depth of field like I could on film. The bridge camera was probably more handy though. You can pick up cheap 2nd hand bargains. The Lumix or the Fuji will let you change your aperture and sensitivity and shutter speed to help you learn. You can get some degree of dof shooting at long focal lengths or in macro mode, but not that noticeable in normal shots. I hate the Nikon/Canon thing, the Canonistas and Nikonistas are just as bad as the Mactards. It's not about what you own, but how you use it. Like Rich suggested Sony A series are decent (based on old Minolta system), Pentax and Olympus are also great. But if you aren't going down the DSLR route you can't really overlook Panasonic or Fuji.
  3. Usually pretty hard to mess about with the depth of field on anything with a teeny wee sensor, if that is what you mean by messing about with focus. For that you really need 4/3s, APS-C or bigger. My Mrs has a Lumix bridge camera which is pretty good overall. What is your budget?
  4. OLW got a name? My alloys are jiggered, pressure washed the wheels the other day and the paint came off two spokes on the rear. The fronts are heavily kerbed by previous owner (and let out air because of it). When you say refurbed and powder coated did that involve fixing kerbing or just sandblast and powder? £25 a wheel seems really affordable compared to most places, boy in Stirling is £150 just for the powder coat on 4.
  5. I was a support worker (read carer) and my company insisted I had business Class 2 and I cannot see why from the above
  6. In real life everyday driving torque is where its at. Lazy overtaking for the win. Not much I can do engine wise to my Lupo, but I've had high revving Japs and lazy French diesels. For everyday commuting the torque wins for me. Constantly stirring the gearbox like you are mixing a cake ain't for me. Engine wise I'd love a PD engine like (was it tigz?) I've seen on here and elsewhere. I used to have a lot of fun in my Skoda Felicia with balloon tyres because you could actually get near the limits of the cars capabilities at legal speeds. For me it isn't about speed. It is funny when you are driving and there is someone up your chuff on every straight bit and nowhere to be seen on the bends...
  7. I used to get to play with a 10kW Ferranti one at uni. Them were the days.
  8. Looking good. Really weird, I'd mentioned to HalfOfZero about Shapieing wheels a few weeks ago!
  9. The thread the video is from has the answer in it? http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=78393
  10. I read your post as you not knowing what wires you needed, if you have the wiring diagram then it'd help? Or did I pick it up wrong.
  11. Lupoboz was selling the genuine new ones at £35 I think? http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=83340&st=0&p=966713&hl=mudflaps&fromsearch=1entry966713
  12. Is it a VW headunit or an aftermarket one? The VW ones have a handy wiring diagram sticker.
  13. Was it easy? Something I'd been looking at. Bolted to handbrake?
  14. Yeah, but the people without headlights - only they can't see. Cheap ass chinese HIDs in enclosures designed for regular H4, or whatever, scatter light here, there and everywhere. People like them cos they can see more. Pity I can't see anything while I'm driving towards them and therefore more likely to hit them... I've even heard people like them because in town they are bright enough to be seen on the road surface and out bright the street lights. tbh in street lit roads head lights are pretty redundant. When you are driving on quiet motorways or country roads there is nothing that quite destroys your night vision like a blue/pink/purple HID retina burn. Ah well. I just have to remember the advice my driving instructor gave me - when someone with stupidly bright or misalinged lights is drving towards you focus on the white line at the kerb side of the road (if there is one) you can then still follow the road without getting totally blinded.
  15. I'd originally taken it from pin 16 of the blue mini ISO for the CD player as it is indicated to be a switched live, but then I realised I can eject a CD with ignition off and key removed, so is it really a switched live? Unplugged it in case of flat battery. I tried pin 10 on the green mini ISO labelled as the remote switch for the telephone but not working for me :-( I don't really want to mess with wiring, I'm colourblind you see. It is a little piggy back connector i'm using that i can slot into ISO block btw.
  16. Never use mine, but swapping them a bit beyond me I'd probably use them if I could get electric power pop outs, was talking to RobG about it and maybe doable with Megane parts. The trouble with them is you can't reach to open them from the front (easiest way is through the boot hatch, lol) sorry to go OT... And mind you'll need the pillar trims too
  17. Oh for access to your workshop!
  18. Yeah, I suppose, I was just curious as to the different pressures and load ratings.
  19. Well mine were only tenner, lol, I'll see how I get on with a screwdriver ;-)
  20. Ok, so I've a Lupo 1.4 SE and the fuel flap was feckered so I bought one from Dubluvin on here, I think it was a Sport they were breaking. They have totally different tyre pressure stickers: Lupo SE Lupo Sport(?) And the R14s (which my car has) have a lower load rating on the sport than the SE sticker. Is this just something that VW changed over time? Or is it model specific?
  21. Ok, so I don't like the "open" Lupo headrests and wanted some of the traditional kind. I made the schoolboy error of buying some Polo ones without checking first, as I thought 'no worries if they don't fit I'll mod them a la how to'. Well they fit in, and are a perfect colour match, but the notches are all in the wrong place and the legs are a narrower diameter. The front ones from the Polo sit nice and flush with the tops of the rear seats, or the rear ones sit up an inch or so like the Lupo ones. I can fit the Polo front ones in the front seat and they sit at a nice height, but they aren't secure. In a crash I wouldn't hold out much hope of getting away without whiplash. I can't follow the 'how to' as the Polo headrest foam isn't split so I just can't slide the legs out, also I can't see any way to split the Lupo ones :-( Not sure what to do now. I thought about getting new guides, since the passenger ones are loose anyway. Something like this, anyone with ETKA that could help with a part no? Think they are from a Polo 6N.
  22. Nope, but I've been along before to take photos. 1st Thursday of the month. At the retail by I am Chris, on Flickr cruise pano by I am Chris, on Flickr
  23. Buy a couple of Jerry cans for £40? They'll hold 40L so that's you doubled you capacity already...
