  1. As per title really, anyone seen how people have bypassed this / deleted it, without a different pedal box etc? Can't see much on the search... Want to do away with the servo completely. Cheers
  2. Valves, head bolts, head gasket, bottom arm, auxillary belt ordered.... Now the wait begins!
  3. Ok, so.... started car 82, the car was running absolutely perfect for 10 stages, a lot of grip issues with the rain forcing us onto the road tyres (only had them or slicks), but nothing too major. By SS11 we were in 43rd overall, quite a big improvement on our seeding! Went out, and as approaching a chicane hit the brakes, the car locked up and just slid. I should have released the brake but unfortunately just pushed harder on it. Learning experience there. Damaged wing, front slam panel, headlight. Drivers side control arm where we hit the kerb, and the wheel. The video confirms the engine continued to run following the crash, but then cut out when trying to move again. Inspection revealed the cambelt jumped ~6 teeth, resulting in 12 bent valves in total! Been luck there's no piston / cylinder damage. Not entirely sure of cause, auxiliary belt was folded over on itself as well, possible that got caught in the cambelt (Also a learning point, I chose not to run the cambelt cover - it will be on next time!) going to replace all 16 valves, be back on the road in no time! Next rally planned for 9th October which I'd like to be ready for. Also deleting the brake servo, brakes are too sensitive as they are.
  4. More of an update to follow, but one thing that's certainly happening is a brake servo delete! 12 bent valves as wel.....
  5. which 1.4? Easy!
  6. Will get one in a bit! Yeah in blue! What colours yours? I'll message you
  7. I have the heater control panel I can send you, it worked fine on my car. also got a resistor but it seems you've ordered one anyway :-)
  8. So if there's no volts at the resistor when the fan is turned onto level 4, have you tried checking that the knobs in the middle are working properly?
  9. Oops - ignore this ... Yes it is fuse 49.
  10. Checked fuses? When my resistor went it did only work on 4... Do you have a multimeter? measure if any volts are going to the resistor.
  11. Drove the car with different gearbox last night! Wow! Didn't think it would have made such a big difference! Much quicker to accelerate!
  12. Have you compared part numbers? Most likely!! They're essentially the same car, a lot of things are common between the two! PS - this thread is 6 years old!
  13. After my engine conversion I put a CWX gearbox in, this whined a lot, and also made noises when in neutral and the clutch was out. Put the FFE box back in from my 1.0, and it's silent in neutral, but does seem to make an audible noise through the gears, relative to speed, no banging, no extremely loud noise, just a faint noise. I drove an up! and it did the same, so I'm convinced it's normal for the gearbox to make a noise that changes pitch as the car gets faster.... Obviously this is probably worse in my car as it has no carpets etc... but would you expect a box to be silent?
  14. Miles, previous owners, any other advisories on the failed MOT or just emissions? pictures?
  15. changed the gearbox over to the original 1.0 FFE gearbox yesterday. Better ratios than the CWX 1.4 16v that was in. Also much less noisy, suspect the one that came with the 14 was on its way out!
  16. 1.0 : 239mm front / drum rear GTI: 256mm front / 232 discs rear (What was on the car)
  17. Yeah, I could fit 14s on just about with the 256mm discs, now with the extra size of the carriers I think only 15" will fit now.
  18. Massively improved! Such a difference. Think next mod is going to be removing the servo though as it locks up very easily as well! I've got the standard GTI rear brake setup, discs.
  19. 280mm conversion done yesterday... With Mintex M1166 pads on the front. Went and bedded them in as per the instructions and left car overnight for them to "cool as long as possible". got some M1144 pads to go in the rear.
  20. Very! Slight spacing difference between the throttle bodies and the intake manifold, but the tubing took up the difference , everything's just fitted on!
  21. It's basically a standard engine - fully stripped and cleaned - just with GSXR600 throttle bodies, short ram pipes, and a 4-2-1 manifold! And it's running on DTA S40 management.
