  1. if you want proper ipad apps then you need to sign up for a US itunes account, buy a US itunes gift voucher, then redeem the code when signed into your US itunes account.
  2. i am a massive massive apple whore, i have a vast proportion of their range of products, mac mini, macbook pro, iphone 3gs, ipod nano, time capsule, and now ipad, but i also own a BB bold as my work phone, and it kicks the iphone into the dirt as far as a communication device goes. i carry both the iphone and the bb on me at all times, and the blackberry is better at email, texts, phone calls, and battery life. yeah the iphone kicks arse at multimedia and apps, but it truely isn't anywhere near as usable as a BB as a business device. if anyone should be biased towards the iphone, it should be me, but it really isn't a great phone. the speaker is too quiet for hearing calls in busy environments, the loud speaker isn't loud enough for handsfree unless you have no background noise around you, the battery life is pants if you spend all day emailing, texting, and talking, and currently you can only have 1 exchange account setup (this is being fixed in OS 4.0 though). overall i always tell people the same thing. buy an iphone for the novelty factor and to look trendy, it's also a great lifestyle phone as it can do so many different things, and i wouldn't be without mine, but if you want a serious communications device buy the BB.
  3. it's half attention whore'ish, and half genuine interest. i know for a fact at least 2 other members on here have ipads, and there must be a few others that i don't know of.
  4. I have a mifi device to use 3G wifi with my iPad on the move, so probably won't sell up and get the 3G iPad when it's out here.
  5. what apps have you got on yours that you'd recommend? on my 64gb ipad i have so far... atomic web - $0.99, awesome web browser, better than safari, includes tabbed browsing and full screen view. i wouldn't be without it now and have almost stopped using the standard safari browser. bbc news - free, not the greatest though, prefer to just browse the web and check out the site via the normal site. epicurious - free, awesome!! get it. thousands and thousands of good recipes at your fingertips. imdb - free, good but american based as obviously it's an app from the american itunes store. uk version of the app will be good. marvel comics - free, i don't read comics, but this is quite cool, and shows off the ipad nicely with lots of bright pics. tap tap radiation - free, bloody addictive game, if you like tap tap revolution on the iphone then this will be right up your street. ibooks - free, not bought any books yet so can't really comment other than that the free winnie the pooh book looks good and works well, but it's not really my kinda book so i haven't read it. jirbobreak - free, if you like brickbreaker then this is the same thing. it's great fun! airvideo - $2.99. this is one of the best apps going, if you have loads of divx/mkv/other unsupported videos on your pc/mac/nas box, then this can stream them and convert them on the fly. this app is amazing, definitely my favourite app! goodreader - this is on offer at the moment for $0.99. this is great for accessing stuff from your cloud based storage accounts, can also read pdf's nicely, view photos, etc etc. well worth getting, especially at that offer price. offline pages - free, save webpages for viewing offline. great if you want to view pages when you have no net connection available. save the pages at home/work, and then read them while on the train. solitaire - free, addictive as hell. abc player - free, purchase a VPN service such as purevpn, and you can access abc player which kinda like an american version of iplayer i suppose. lots of great programs on here. alicelite - free, a sample of the alice in wonderland ebook. looks great and has some cool little animations. ambient time - free, alarm clock application. backgrounds - free, lots of cool background wallpapers for the ipad. XE - free, currency converter application, great for convenience when you are trying to buy stuff in another currency online. pad info - free. gives you some useful info about your ipad. speedtest.net - free, nice app just to check the speed of your broadband connection.
  6. HD2 = windows mobile = fail! that is all.
  7. you look about 12 in your photo on your profile, so yes i called you boy.
  8. says the boy who drives a lupo gti which the vast majority of this country would classify as a girls car
  9. really? why would you only get a polo gti when you could have a proper car like a TTRS ?
  10. if you had 25k plus were on 4k a month then you wouldn't be looking at second hand cars. if you think you'll be paying 10% tax on 4k a month you are sadly mistaken too. i love it when sales people say "other guys in my position are earning blah blah blah amount." the sales guys in the company i work for are all on more or less the same basic wage, and they obviously all have the same earning potential, but yet the top guys are earning £150k a year while the bottom guys are taking home a few hundred quid commission on top of their basic. you might think you are gonna earn that amount, but i'll stick my neck on the line and say you are a dreamer.
  11. they aren't called tramp stamps for nothing.
  12. brace yourself for very low 20's to the gallon. i've averaged 21mpg over the last few thousand miles. i was in the dealership talking to the sales manager and he's been driving an RS for a while now and he says he gets around 18mpg. i'd put money on the leon being a lot more frugal on fuel.
  13. my gearbox exploded on my old 6n2 gti as well.
  14. how can you think it is too big to class as mobile? it's got a 9.6" screen and is thinner than any laptop. i'd classify that as pretty mobile. 10 hours battery life tells me that it's pretty mobile too.
  15. i'll be buying it cos it has an apple logo on it and i enjoy being an attention whore. i guarantee in a years time a lot of people who say the ipad is crap will actually own one. there is nothing else on the market that does what the ipad does to the same level of excellence. take a look at the video on the apple site and check out how well email and web browsing it implemented. even my mother has an ipod touch which she uses for everything from music to keeping contact details, calendar, keeping photos on, etc etc. the next gen ipad will be what everyone was hoping for from the ipad that has just been launched, but that's the way the market works, otherwise apple would have no scope for improvements to future models. i have to say that it's very very rare i come across a site on my iphone that doesn't work properly due to unsupported codecs. the browser on the ipad WILL be the best way to browse the net. yes the on screen keyboard will be pants for writing essays, but personally for me browsing the web requires very little typing once i'm actually on a site as all i'm doing is following links, and for this the ipad will be awesome. i also run logmein on my iphone, and really can't wait to see this working on an ipad.
  16. i'll be buying one. the iphone gives a great web browsing experience for a mobile phone, but it's limitation really is it's screen size. web browsing on an ipad is gonna be great, and with a 10 hour battery life just stick it on charge when you aren't using it and you will pretty much never run out of battery life halfway through using it. yeah lack of flash support is gay, but other than that there isn't much to complain about. roll on june when we get it over here!
  17. i think the bluetooth works great for what it's designed to do. i use bluetooth tethering from my macbook pro to my iphone, and i use bluetooth headphones on both my mbp and iphone and they both work great with them. if you wanna transfer pics and stuff without having to connect your phone to your mac or pc then use dropbox. https://www.dropbox.com/
  18. i am running CS4 on my mbp, but the lack of desktop real estate pisses me off when i've been used to photoshopping on my pc @ 1920x1200. still haven't made my mind up on the 27" imac, or just get a nice BIG monitor and connect it to my mac mini.
  19. i have this case for mine, it's called "SwitchEasy Colors," and yes i bought it in orange, although normal colours are available. Previously i had a cheapo £3 black silicone case from ebay, but it was nowhere near as good as this.... full review here.. http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/switcheasy-colors-for-iphone-3g/ i paid about £12 off ebay.

hold on.... i didn't insult you or take the piss, i made a suggestion as to what film to see, or other activities to do. how does that constitute me breaking my restraining order?

only reason i would take a girl to the cinema would be if she genuinely wanted to see the film, or if i had bugger all to talk about. why not take her for a meal or bowling, or something else that you can also have a conversation during? avatar is good and even girls will like it. it's especially impressive in 3d, and it's 2 hours 45 mins long so you have ages and ages to not have a conversation.
  22. saw it last night in 3d, i'd put it up there as one of my favourite films, was pretty epic.
  23. i am selling my mac mini if anyone is interested as i've got the macbook pro and purchase on a 27" imac is imminent!
