  1. Right the other day I removed the back seats, but then noticed the quite big chunk of metal where the seats slot into to (middle of car) This obviously no good for mr pooch, as it looks incredibly painful if knocked into. The only way is to remove that, but it's welded into chassis and no way am I doing that. The next option is put the seats back in, but from what I remember, even when the seats are laid down it's not 100% flush from normal boot to the back of the seats? I'm sure there is a ledge as such of a few inches. Does anyone know the length and width of the lupo with seats down, to the back of the front seats fully extended back? Was thinking of making a little construction of wood, to raise it up so it's flush then buy two cot mattresses and hopefully it'll fit somehow. I know I could just get my old seats down from the loft and measure, but the misses will yell at me to get the xmas decs down again. It almost ended in blood when putting the seats in the loft to start with!
  2. ah, interesting. My lupo does this, if the heater is on full, it seems to take ages to get to temperature, if I turn the heater off, it heats up quick. Was thinking it was thermostat change time, but obviously not. Good job aswell, seeing as the lupo is just a garden ornament recently!
  3. Reverse in my lupo aways crunches in getting it into reverse. Can anything actually be done do you know? Pedal box looks good, and newish clutch
  4. And we always blame the tappets for the ticking....
  5. Noticed the Lupo has split by the pipe before the backbox, so nothing coming out exhaust tip! Quite chavvy now so needs replacing. I was looking at the Bosal website and seen the parts required. I have a few questions though as never done an exhaust change before. 1. Do I need exhaust paste 2. I believe when the exhaust system comes from VW it's one unit, I doubt the current exhaust is standard so probably been cut before, so is it a case of simply unbolting, new paste (if required) slide center box into backbox pipe then use the bosal clamp like this (http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mku5ozAJ5fioEOQZHUG0YFg.jpg) 3. Regarding the rubber hangars when replacing system, is it best to hang from car then slide onto exhaust or the other way round? Thanks
  6. You cannot buy the foam from VW anymore allegedly. I done this http://danstyan.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/vw-lupo-insulation-film.pdf
  7. From near empty you should be putting about £25 worth @ 121.9p a litre (down here currently)
  8. Sounds like theres a fault in the wiring somewhere it seems
  9. thats good, don't think mines going to get to 90k
  10. Tell you what I done the other day accidentally. To the left of the engine near the back, there is a thick breather pipe. I was working around there and forgot to put it back on. Had a manky smell coming through the vents on the motorway, but came back and no oil pressure light :/ Might be worth trying it on yours, see if your oil light doesn't come on. If it doesn't then prehaps it's a breather issue? I'm too lazy to dig deeper, but might buy a new one of these and new breather pipes just in case http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?/topic/76581-black-spots-on-my-bootlid/ I don't have the black spots, but i know the breather pipe was full ages ago, so don't know the condition of the oil seperator
  11. Yes, no need to dismantle anything, just the 1-2 bolts keeping it screwed up
  12. haha, love it. Well top quality biscuits for you for getting back.
  13. Yup, go to the passenger side and look up, you'll see this http://galleryplus.ebayimg.com/ws/web/200566421676_1_0_1/1000x1000.jpg all you'll see though is the black plastics. Remove with 1 or 2 screws, pull down, put new back in, and you'll have your fan speeds again. When we removed our old one, it was extremely rusty, bit worrying but everything around was bone dry on a rainy day
  14. Tried thicker oil, not that either. Pretty sure it's electrics or possible faulty oil pressure sensor but it was a genuine VAG. If it was truly worn engine, we would of noticed by now, but it still runs nicely
  15. Fuse? Or the keys need re synching but not sure how. Does a spare key gob work?
  16. Read above, should just be those electrica
  17. Anyone got a price for the above part? Tried doing the front brakes, had an issue with an Allen bolt, my fault. The rubber bit around annoyed me so I attacked it, but I believe they're somewhat important
  18. Don't know for sure but, shouls just be a case of removing the door card and electrics from window reg (if fitted), central locking and speaker. Then remove the check strap, then undo the bolts for the hinges. Sounds bout right
  19. Join the club, been doing it on our lupo for almost 2 years!! Usually happens after doing 70mph plus, and usually always in the same location going towards my house and over a few speed bumps. Try changing your oil pressure sender and hopefully you'll be lucky and thats just it. Not for us though
  20. Hmm that is odd indeed. When you start the car do you see the engine management light for a few seconds then turn off?
  21. Yup great first car and to be honest, if your desire for more speed isn't required you'll have it for a long time. Our Lupo has turned into the workhorse and my passat retired for the long drives now. Looking at the lupo you think it's small, but I've had two full size golden retrievers in it and comfortable (they told me so during the walk) 5x1.8m garden sleepers inside, almost 300kg of garden decorative stones and recently a brand new full size hotpoint tumble dryer!! So in terms of practicality aslong as there's two of you, there's ample room for things. It's just later on if you have a desire to have something quicker (and I mean more than the 75hp? 1.4 delivers) then the lupo will only be good to bring up confidence. My first car was an Audi 1992 2.0 A6, but purely because insurance at the time for me was about £500 cheaper than anything small
  22. Found it, it's 1lm. Found this by looking in the boot sticker then confirmed by typing vw PR code into http://prsearch.planetvag.com which then said front disc brakes
  23. How do I find the correct brakes and pads for my car? Seeing notes like "for pr-1lm" and various things like that. Where do I get this information from? Ta
