Gearbox oil change.

02T gearbox, big hex plugs on the diff housing, low one is drain (duh) under left drive shaft and filler is up near speedo plug opposite side.

hex plug?

isn't it a triple square with a hole in?

I had to order one specially then georgeN borrowed it and like so many, quick to borrow, slow to return.

Depends on the year i think or maybe what they had in the parts bins at the time.

Finally got round to having a look at it. Filler plugs are triple square with a pin. So would need a triple square with a hole. 

What size will I need to order as I can't find 17mm anywhere online. They only seem to go up in even numbers.

Another bloody stupid piece of design, ready to be rounded off... Whats wrong with a big allen head like our Lupo has?

tbf a 17mm hex isnt in most peoples tool box either is it.

Was that m16 one correct as i dont have one?

wheel bolt, shaved spanner.

vice grips, etc....

Yes. The m16 was correct. Filler plug came out nice and easy. Drain plug was a different story. Theres barely enough room for the m16 socket. Let alone a ratchet. Ended up attaching an extension bar so it went above the subframe and used a pair of grips to undo the plug. Absolute nightmare. 20 min job turned into an hour and a half. 

She's now since developed a knock :(  one thing after another with this bloody thing
