Engine conversion's ??

I must admit, if this is actually true then we'll all be amazed. There's a hell of a lot of work in a Lupo 1.8T conversion. It's not just an in-out straight swap like other engine swaps. There's a lot of work making it right. Just look at the other threads on Club Lupo.

PSI Tuning, a company near where I live, are some of the UK's leading experts in VAG tuning and engine conversions. They will do a professional Lupo engine conversion, they charge 5 grand and want it for longer than 3 weeks though, so you can understand why we're all sceptical.

JBS quoted me £8000 for a drive in/drive out OEM style swap. They included sourcing and re-building an engine in that though.

Your being ripped. A non specialist here can do one he has never done in and out in 3 weeks.

lol.

I suppose one way he could get round all the welding work is by simply gluing the extra mount points and brackets using Liquid Nails? Perhaps chemical metal? Then you wouldn't need to spend all that time welding and being careful etc...?

Not sure about the structural integrity, but we'll leave that up to HJLUPO.

I reckon it'll consist of the following:

- a 20vT engine cover

- a massive radiator painted in hammerite silver

- one of those whistley turbo things you bolt to your intake

- a dyno print out from Dastek's website.

My latest How To:

How To Turbocharge your Lupo in just under a day for £300 or less (fastest Lupo ever?)

Just five easy steps.

What you need for this tutorial:

Drill

Universal Intercooler (link) - approx £20

Welder (link) - £2.99

Genuine Mechanical Not-Fake Saber Dump Valve (http://www.saber-edv.co.uk/) - £184.99

Genuine Mechanical Not-Fake Turbo (link) - £50

Genuine Alarm To Stop Thieves and Protect Your Investment (link) - £2.99

Step 1 Fitting Intercooler

Remove the front bumper. Fit intercooler to any available mounting point at the front of the engine. Use your trusty welder to mount intercooler. No need to connect the pipes, it works via air particle transportation theorem.

Step 2 Fitting Turbocharger

Remove stock air box. Connect your non-fake Turbo to air intake. Take Turbo piping and connect to ignition live, for extra speed, connect to throttle pedal so you observe booooooost. VROOOOOOOOM!!

Step 3 Fitting Dump Valve

Mount not-fake twin dump valve in convenient location in the engine, make sure it is safely welded using your trusty £2.99 heat proof welder, alternatively screw in for extra power yo. Take dump valve control and mount under throttle pedal. Take dump valve pipe and connect to ignition live. Adjust dump valve control so you get phsssssssssssssssssssst when you lift foot off throttle. For extra streed cred, use the same wiring for dump valve as for turbo charger! Has to be worth an extra 10bhp.

Step 4 Fitting Alarm

Take your genuine alarm and wire into permanent live and ignition live. Observe red flashing LED when ignition is off.

Step 5 Fitting Powerflow Exhaust

Drill holes in backbox, start car, observe HUGE power gains. Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaartttttttttttt.

Step 6 Tuning for extra BHP

Head to Halfords, buy "Type-R" badge, apply as required.

Hope this helps.

He said around £1750 all in , and time frame I've said to him I'm not in a great rush he said he be looking hopefully around 3 weeks

I laughed so hard at 3 weeks! haha

Did you factor in bigger breaks and new suspension into that price?

Ahh, the old redtop Corsa rule:

0-60 in five seconds, 60-0 in twenty.

Is it this weekend or sometime next week?

Karl is booking his in immediately after then I'm straight after that. Theoretically, he'll be knocking out 1.8T conversions at a rate of one every three weeks and at that price he's practically giving them away.

That's pretty impressive to be fair Dblock.

It is. I'm just waiting to give that £10 away. I'm going to ask to get a 1.9tdi swap for £2k. A bit on top so I can get it done in 2 weeks.

Seeing as it's been three weeks, I imagine Karl will be anxious to take his car in right away. I'll be next on the list. Could do with confirmation of the first one's successful conversion though?

We got pictures?
