Dblock
Unless she is online you will need more info. Which engine, year, what type of filter are you thinking of etc etc.
Skezza
Pretty sure you'll need to take the engine cover off, regardless of your model

mattarosa
I'm guessing Pete did but then re-fixed after the work was complete, I'm not sure if the OP wants to do this or not remove hers full stop.
Shannon0595
Unless she is online you will need more info. Which engine, year, what type of filter are you thinking of etc etc. 1.0 litre, 51 plate, and iv just looked at the ones in halfords atm, iv not really looked into it that much just wanted to know if anyone else has one in with the engine cover still on :-)
Shannon0595
I'm not too bothered about having to take it off whilst fitting it if I need to, just wanting to keep it on in the long run... As you can tell I'm not really wise to all the mods and extras you can do/get!
Pete91
So at no point you needed to take the cover off?Nah it was taken off to fit the bmc then stuck back on with a bit chopped out haha

Piers
dont get one from halfords...Get a real one if you're going to start cutting and chopping at stuff...BMC is probably the most commonly used.
Pete91
Yeah you can fit it without chopping anything. Mines is only chopped to make it look better

The noise is really nice.
Pete91
^^agreed. Would still stay away from the shite halfords sell though.
Skezza
^^agreed. Would still stay away from the shite halfords sell though. true. Most of the ones they sell aren't even oiled, you're supposed to do it yourself, so little Johnny buys one, doesn't read the box, fits it to his Corsa and in a months time his engine is burning oil for fun. Clever.
Dblock
Why would not oiling your filter cause you to burn oil?
Skezza
Why would not oiling your filter cause you to burn oil? because an unoiled filter is massively inefficient, that's the point of oiling them. A month or two of sucking dust and crap into your engine, you'll turn your car into an oil burner in no time. Skezza
Why though? excessive engine wear...?
Dblock
excessive engine wear...?Very descriptive. Most of the dirt can score the bore, scratch anf gunk up valves etc. So not good but I don't see why you would burn more oil.

I must admit, I was always led to believe excessive wear to bore walls, cylinder heads and pistons, directly contributed to oil consumption. I might be wrong though. Defcon5
Its a good one that. There is another one of a kid with a 106 that has put an air filter on the end of the cold air feed of his other filter, double filtered air FTW
