Well I thought I was crap at spraying and for the first few minutes I thought this would turn out badly. Remove the badge from the car so you get a good covering all over the badge. Apply three coats of primer ( Simonz ) I think. First one a light dusting , second a bit thicker and third a bit thicker again. Leave about half an hour between each and then an hour after the third before you apply the black. I used some cheap gloss black spray paint I bought from a car accessories shop. I did eight coats over two days ( one in the morning before work , one at lunch , and one when I came home ) I would say leave a good hour and a half between each coat but only do 4 or 5 coats. I only did six as I kept getting little pimples in the paint. Once the last coat is on leave atleast 24 hours before putting back on the car as you dont want finger marks when you push it back into the grill ! Sorry a bit long winded but this is how I did mine :)

If you rub it down with some very fine wet & dry (i use 2500 grit) and do a couple of coats of lacquer after all that it will be shinier & last longer. You should key up the surface before you start too it'll help the paint stick.

So aswell as my BBS' which I am putting on as soon as my coilovers arrive ( taking a long time as coming from abroad ) I was offered some MK1 golf teardrop wheels for £40 for 6 wheels. Need a refurb and tyres and probably some spacers once on the car but pretty pleased with them. Plan is to get the BBS' on whilst these are being refurbed then have a spare set of wheels to interchange :)

Not sure whether to go silver wheels with black teardrops or vice versa ?

Have always wanted Cambridge rear lights but at £110 for the pair , I couldn't really justify it. My dad buys a lot of stuff from a guy who does VW bits and managed to get these cheap off of him , happy days !
