Weeredarosa
Planning on a 20v conversion this winter. Few questions though,1. What engine is the easiest fit? AGU etc2. Driveshafts? Is it a weld job?Oops, forgot to mention, mk1 arosa 1998 1.4 8v
Koop
Try the search function there's a few peeps done 20v conversions before & there's lots of useful info to be found if you do a bit of digging. Driveshafts are a custom job, I believe some folks have modified Mk2 Golf 16v shafts.
Cooper_GTI
It doesn't matter which engine code you fit. ust try to get the best (mileage/power) engine you can. I was lucky enough to find a BAM with 46,000 miles for £500.The short shaft will fit with the correct C.V. joint, but the long shaft needs to be cut and welded.Best and only real option when it comes to engine mounts, is to cut out the standard drivers side mount and weld in a 1.8t mount. It's about £14 from VW.P.S. none of them are 'easy'. It's not quite like dropping a redtop in a corsa.

Weeredarosa
Ok, so I've bought an 02a gearbox to enable the cable clutch. I'm stumped about the gear shifter and cables. Anyone know what setup I need?

Weeredarosa
Ok, so I have a mk4 engine mount and I'm gonna use the standard 1.4 gearbox mount with SOME modification. My mate (with the orange mk1 golf) has donated more parts to the build and has given me an 02a shifter. Spent on build so far, £29.99 on G60 calipers and carriers.Anyone selling polo GTi hubs? Adzer
AGU is by far the easiest and strongest engine, agu has the same bottom end as BAM engine (20mm wrist pins) but the main difference is AGU has large port head and BAM has small port head.overall AGU is just as strong as a BAM but has more tuning ability, plus its only uses 1 lambda sensor and isnt fly by wire which makes wiring it up easier imoplus the AGU engine doesnt have sai pumps, vvt or anything else to clutter up the bay
