My GTI got KEYED last nite !!!

Just got into work this morning. I walked round the passengers side and someone has keyed the full length of my passenger.

For those of you that didn't know Iv'e got a diamond black GTI so the scratch looks really bad.

It must have happened overnight parked outside my house, it's quite a nice area with a low crime rate so i'm thinking it must av been a drunk coming home from the pub or club or just some `mongo-loid` who's seen me driving it around and taken offence.

I take it there's no point going to the police with this?

What kinda cost am i looking at to get this sorted?

Have any of you had your car keyed and how much did it set you back. Also were you worried about it happening again?

Iv'e only had it just over a month and my car now feels tainted and don't think ile be happy till its sorted, I'm not anul about my car but I'm proud to own it and well gutted!

Cheers Hammertime

sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> Im gutted for you mate.

I had my passenger side done about 10 months back.

Same thing.

Friday night, some piss head walking home from pub.

A week later I woke up and found someone had done the bonnet and drivers door.

your gonna be looking at £200 a panel, I needed N/S door and rear panel, O/S wing and door and the bonnet.

I havn't got that sort of money, and cant afford to lose my no claims so the scratchs are still there.

We moved house instead sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

im well gutted for you mate, best thing you can do is just ring around decent bodyshops that you or your mates know of and get some quotes. I wouldnt bother trying to save 50 quid or so on some dodgy looking bodyshop, as you kinda get what you pay for (majority of circumstances).

As for the police, there is no real point, but you could set some type of cctv up outside your house for reassurance in the future?

Not nesseserly.

My kid sister was having some problems with some of the locals.

After a couple of things happend to her house I went and fitted a CCTV camera on the front of her house.

The Police told her she had to point it away from the gate (it was pointing up her garden path, at her gate but they said it is against privicy laws.

It can only be aims at your propaty, not public grounds.

Its *****, you cant do nothing to stop it.

I sat watching every friday night with the dog on lead in one hand and nunchucks in the other.

That totally sucks :x

You should see if there are any mobile sprayers in your area, they can work wonders these days. I've had my cabrio done where i had a really nasty scrape on the bumper, the guy did a mint job and did it in my dusty garage in about 2 hours, looks better than the factory paint. 8)

Sorry to here your car got keyed last night.

I had my black beetle done in the west end (London). Makes you feel sick to the stomach.

I believe in karma. These scumbags think they can cause upset for kicks and it's funny. Well you might not see it, but what goes around, comes around. lovely persons. I was so angry. Cost £180 to fix. If the scratch is in the middle of the panal then it's a side paint in a bodyshop.

I spoke to some right hard geezer who had a 100k AMG 6.0 SL Merc on the '54 plate. It had to have a complete paint because the shisters done every panel. He said it's a good job he didn't catch them. Or they would be in wheelchairs. I somehow felt he wasn't joking...

Chin up and all that....

I met a chap the other day wh

thanks everyone for your words just got in from a night out to drown my sorrows.... just checked the LUpe n everything `un-touched`!

I may try one of those mobile paint chip specialists? any others had good things to say bout them? Still feeling gutted about my car , its my pride n joy n feels tainted! :-( - sorry if that sounds lame but its unique n sweet and that why people are jealous !

No harm in getting a mobilepaint bod down.

I think they can only blow in over a crease or an edge. If they've gone down the panel where it's flat and in the middle then the blow in'll show.

If you end up going the bodyshop route make sure they take off handles and trim etc. The scumbags at my VW bodyshop sprayed over the clear stonechip stickers on the back bumpers of my `ex-bug`. Lazy shisters!

sorry to hear about that mate,

at the end of the day thats all it is, jelousy. the only thing you can do is to try and stop it happening again. park in a different spot or maybe rent a garage or somthing.

its frustrating, like getting a ding one of your doors. crap happens mate - you cant keep an eye on your car all the time.

what goes around comes around, and all that.

sorry to hear that buddy. tossers. at least blair has kept to his word on 'being tough on crime and the causes of crime'. all the policy making dickheads in whitehall - creating more and more legislation that comes down on the side of the criminal, and not the victim....utter *****.
