Just sold my late GTI. I live next to a pub and scumbag cabbies have no qualms in bashng your car and driving off. Someone nudged the grill and broke it. No point in having a tasty car and watch it fall to pieces. PLUS. Can't fit a towbar (I know but I need one to tow my microcars) Petrol is going through the fookin roof. The VED on a GTI is high for a little 1.6. it must have a 'Dirty' engine? Oh and the biggest kiler is depreciation. So in all, I'm going to get a Fiat Cinq Sporting in yellow. I'll fix it myself and wont have to rely on poxy dealers. Or maybe a MK1 gti campaign (original, not chavved up). Talking of chavving up, how long before the GTI gets modded by hoodie nobs who think a carisma spoiler 3mm off the ground looks cool? I know, when they're 3grand!

Only 8 used GTIs at the mo' at official dealers. Must be in demand. Bout flippin time! Last time I looked there were 35. None with A/C. So by default late (loads of warranty) GTI's are v good news. Spesh with a/c etc...

We swapped cars at the weekend as I needed to do some massive distances whilst towing. We swapped back last night. He said the ride was a bit too bumpy for him. Fair enough, He is 58! Anyway he said he was driving up high st and stopped at the lights. He noticed a load of grotty chav types and they said to each other 'look at that old git in a lupo gti'!! He seemed quite peeved. True i suppose. If it's a chav dream car I'm concerned. Hmm? I had to use my dads old merc with no a/c on saturday. Was burning up. You cant have your window open at 80plus cos it does your head in with the noise etc. And driving with your window open on motorway uses up fuel cos of drag. Prob more than A/C. So in short i'll take the A/C. Cant believe if anyone is offered any identical car with or without a/c they'd go for non. A/C for Pezza. Nice and cool!

Tell you one thing, I'm well glad I held out for an A/C specced GTI. Main reason was I couldn't sell my last Vdub without it so HAD to get it this time round. Wasn't really bothered as It's not warm all year round. However it is THE option. It was 33 degrees and I was cool as can be. I've heard this summer's gonna be a scorcher!! Some dealer tried to say a sunroof was as good? Err right!!! Only one drawback, A/C does like fossil fuel. does the lupo sport have a centre exhaust? i assume the tdi 1.4 has a side exit. that might do!

Bad News I've had my GTI three months and love it to bits (other than titchy tank) but love the handling,build,looks and performance. Also like the 40mpg I get. Trouble is I'm going to need a towbar and the GTI can't have one fitted. I'm gutted. Ironically the car needs to pull a tiny trailer which a 50brake 1.0 could pull. To add insult to injuy a 1.0 aint got a centre exhaust so no probs there. I didn't think I'd need to use my own car to tow as I've had use of a transit but it's no longer available. So I'm stuffed. I looked long and hard for a mint low-miler with A/C. So that's the end of that. On the trader shortly. And I've had the rear spoiler done under warranty perfectly. There is no light that comes on, on my dash when the boot is open! What does it look like when it's on! Back to the dealer is it?!

I've an '04 GTI and it has no boot light. I've seen posts with people mentioning some light on the dash staying on when the tailgates open. Did Vdub delete it?

Got my GTi back from Abridge bodyshop. Must admit the job is as good as I could hope for. ie you wouldnt know it had been done. killed two birds with one stone. bubbles gone and it dont leak either. had new spoiler and light. So if anyone needs this fix these are your boys. Then some ******* must have reversed into my car when I parked it up later. No damage save the VW badge surround. Least Vdub made the grill setup in two bits. nine quid and its looks perfect again.
