_AJ_
My coolant container is really dirty, with like a browny mucky ness.Does this mean it just needs cleaning out or is there is a problem? Thanks in advance,Aj.
heartagram
Most likely needs a clean out. Coolant is one of those things that doesn't seem to get changed that often in cars. I'd just drain it out and clean out the header tank. If it doesn't come up to clean can get a new one from Volkswagen for a few quid. You'll be there for G12 anyway so can pick one of those up too. Defcon5
Could it be that the coolant has been replaced with non-G12 and its turned a bit gunky due to not bing flushed properly?
_AJ_
Thanks for advice, might just buy a new shiny one xx
John West Bear
I'm buying a new one I can't see **** in mine. Can't work out where the levels are - I know there was non G12 in mine though It was blue when i got it.
99hjhm
Could it be that the coolant has been replaced with non-G12 and its turned a bit gunky due to not bing flushed properly?Yep.Any blue or green anti freeze is not good for a modern car. In some cases it fooks radiators and heater matrix as blue/ and the new OAT antifreezes don't mix.I would get a new bottle, take the thermostat housing off, and heater matrix pipes and flush out what you can with a hose. Then refill with G12+ or what ever coolant VW say these days. nfbr
I'd recommend buying a fresh one as they are cheap as chips, even from the dealer!
treblet
If you don't want to buy a new one I've heard removing the bottle and putting some uncooked rice inside and a bit of water and a good shake will remove most dirt. Make sure you get the rice out again though!
