bossjohnc
I'm not going to get the car out especially (might be tempted if it was parked on the street), but will do it next time I'm out. Anyone else?

Clairey
His comment was constructive to be honest. You'd be in a better position now I'd you'd looked at things which were actually an issue on the car rather than replacing like for like parts that probably didn't need to be changed!I doubt he's jealous of your fifty quid leads...No, because the car needed it, otherwise i wouldnt have brought it! 2 of the leads snapped inside the insulation at the top of the plug branding them useless. if you think otherwise i will sell them you for £30? same for the exhaust it was blowing in more than 1 place and was pretty much rotten.now back on topic so the 5 speed box dont fit the 6 speed designed engine? how else apart from stripping the box would i tell if its a 6 or 5 speed? bossjohnc
No, they both fit the engine. Someone else needs to see how fast they go in 5th at 2000rpm in their 5/6 speed to determine. One person has already said it sounds like a 5sp is fitted.

PaperWeight1
Is it not easy to tell looking at the box? Most 6 speeds I've seen have a longer housing in the passenger arch for the extra gear.
breamy
5 speed 5th gear-2000rpm - 45mph3000rpm - 65mph4000rpm- 85mph
bossjohnc
In which case, it does actually sound like you have a 5 speed box!
electricpanda
I hope it is a five speed box!!! Like Blackcat and Defcon5 said.. looking at best part of a grand to get sorted.
Clairey
after looking into it with John (Casper) i have got the code off the box and it has been confirmed as a 6 speed so another thing to get sorted out
