Nicki
Phoning the Police and reporting it would be the best idea. Was it on an A road or a motorway? If so, the Police will probably have video footage from their cameras. Your word against his, as you said - but if the Police pay him a visit & there's damage on his car matching yours, it's a start. I had a friend in the car that saw it would that be sufficient or does it need to be a 3rd party? Thanks for your replys.

Defcon5
The accident needs to be reported as soon as practicable. Is the CCTV likley to be council or private? If private, I would get it asap as it may not be saved for very long

blackcat
Hi, Had a local boy hit my car and drive off, have there reg no, what can I do?Its not a big dent but have been quoted a couple hundred quid. How can I get them to pay for it? I have no witnesses so it will be hard for me to prove they did it, whats my best bet?Any help appreciated.ThanksReport it to Police immediately before the goon gets time to repair his damage.Secondly and quite obviously as putney put it, 'find' that witness who saw it happen.Lastly seek video evidence asap within 5 days as tapes get re-recorded all the time, although hard drives are becoming more popular, depends how loaded your local council is. blackcat
I know exactly who it was because I saw them do it, I didnt give chase because I also know exactly where they live.Hold on if you know where he lives, go see him and ask if you could have a word, tell him you got a witness and local police know but you haven't given his reg plate yet, see him sweat and then settle privately? lupoluke
I believe you have to report it to the police within 24 hours and if you were in the car and you were injursed they haved to do somethin bout it.
