PaulTither
Under the little compartment near the gear stick and lifting up the ash tray there is a little computer part that looks like a scart socket. When I bought my Lupo the salesman said you could get a part for it which fits into the socket and gives the car more power. He said he'd seen someone do it and it delivered 158 bhp.Anyone know what this part is and where to buy it?
Tigz™
158bhp from a chip?erm.. the guys talking out of his ass mate. Most you could expect to get from a `re-map` would be 140 at the most.Zippy will be able to give you the details
tdwindustries
and that doesnt plug into that socket. Thats a socket for the VW dealer to plug in and run a diagnostics program on the car to see whats wrong.... I may be wrong but I dont think you can plug anything in their that would do anything at all

Snoopy
LOL.Most of the SPP programming devices connect via the OBDII port, but don't use OBDII commands - they talk directly to the ECU using undocumented (externally to VW, anyway) functionality. You'll never get 158bhp like that from the GTI. tdwindustries
or go back with an old calculator attached with gaffer tap to the ash tray and show him... type in your chosen BHP and tell him it cost £1000 but is worth every penny and thank him lots, see what his reaction is.
