CasperGTI
Looking good...... thats the easy part done then! Are you rebuilding the engine or are you just bolting it on and seing how it goes? what ecu do you plan to use too?Doubt that intake will fit with the oil pressure switch where it is. Its a right pain to get round it.Did you grind down the bottom of the charger so it dosent touch the manifold? Looking forward to seing it coming along, good work so farJohn
guillaume2
-for the ecu , I contact a VW specialist because I'not qualified , He advised me to keep the ecu if it has an entry for the air pressure and reprogram it-yet, I do not touch the inside of the engine , he will adjust the boost pressure to 0.5 bar maximum, later when I have money to do the pistons and connecting rods and camshafts, he will increase pressure , he thought that in this configuration 170/180ch-the charger do not touch the manifold but it's very just , I put some washers between the plate and the engine for that , and I'll put a blanket over insulation-"Doubt that intake will fit with the oil pressure switch where it is. Its a right pain to get round it." sorry I can't translate this question , I use software to translate the technical words, it is not easy
CasperGTI
-for the ecu , I contact a VW specialist because I'not qualified , He advised me to keep the ecu if it has an entry for the air pressure and reprogram itYou can try that, but i am not sure if it will work. The manifold pressure sensor will not read pressures over 4 psi. And i am not sure if you can change the map. There is a lot of work involved in reprogramming the ECU, The chip in the ecu must be de-soldered. and then programed. I believe there is a way round this, but i have not researched in to it very much.Good luck, if you do it, then you will be the first gti to keep its standard ecu in place when using over 4psi. I have given up on that idea, standalone for me, next week it will be on the road!John
guillaume2
we will see, he did it on the VR6 on which it installs compressor

guillaume2
CasperGTI
How are you going to get the pipes from the supercharger to the intercooler? there is not enough room unless you cut your tow eye hook off, But then you cant use it on tracks.Ive tried this already. Would be good to see how your going to do it though. Hence why i had a custom intercooler made.Looking good though!John Awesome, i want to buy a 1.4 sport and supercharge one of them. How much does it cost roughly ? £4-5kDepends on what power you want and what parts you want to use and fi you do it yourself or not. Its not an easy job at all. Engine out, standalone ecu etc..... Id just concentrating on getting a sport first!Pay someone to do it and your cost will start at atleast £5k Edited April 30, 2009 by CasperGTI

CasperGTI
Looks good. Really impressed that you got all the pipes in like that. Looks pretty trick, I wish i didnt have aircon, would have made life alot easier.Keep it up!John

tombuttigieg
So when you supercharge do you have to uprate the radiator as well? Edited May 17, 2009 by tombuttigieg
guillaume2
I keep this radiator , I will install temperature sensor to check that

CasperGTI
looking good, seing how fast youve done it. I can see my build thread helped you a fair bit!Have you had it running yet? any other plans? what poer do you want from it?What are you going to do about your ecu?John

I can see my build thread helped you a fair bit!Have you had it running yet? any other plans? what poer do you want from it?sorry I can't translate these sentences What are you going to do about your ecu?first , maping with OEM ecu , with hight pulley , no décompression plate , a vw specialist used to do this on the VR6 , the OEM ecu can use 0,3bar on the lupo , he will change the injectors and fuel pump , I hope 170ch then , change ecu , I don't know which one to use , and replace the internal , clutch , LSD installation , I hope to do so before the end of the year but it's very expensive and not simple John

Toi gulp
Looks good i'm liking the conversion, a little unsure about cutting out part of the chassis leg, i hope this will be re-inforced as its so close to the front suspension where a lot of the stress and torsional rigidity has to be. lets hope it runs well. Toi gulp
That may be but it's still there to absorb stress and unless its a perfect radius cut, fracture points could appear. Anyway. a good looking conversion so far, looking forward to seeing it running..........i really like the supercharger concept i'm just strugling to get my head round why TB's and head work arnt a better bet for power with the high compression ratio. CasperGTI
have you tried it with the piping connected?Whats the point? at about 3k engine rpm, it will put the car in to limp mode. Unless he gets his ecu done, it wont work as we all know.Sounds good. Now i have a comparison to compare how fast my car revs with the lightweight internals and balancing. Mine revs up and back down by the time yours has accelerated. I think you must do that next!!I think you will have problems with the dump valve, I did and it caused the belt to slip when the valve shuts. But i am running a much smaller pulley than you.Have you though about moving the throttle body to before the charger? that is what im doing this week. It will make it alot better, and thats how a supercharged car should be set up!Now for mapping..... thats the hard part!John Edited June 21, 2009 by CasperGTI
