rinos69
back in the days i went to the Nurburgring 2 years ago when i used to drive the 'fat' mini, on the way back to mini united in Holland ith some friends... and nearly crashed my car as i lifted my right foot in the middle of a fast corner.... oversteeeeeeeeer@80mph!But it was the most (or at least one of the most) exciting trackdays i have ever had.. will come back someday... maybe with the Lupo the only advices i can give to a first timer is to avoid hitting the Nordschleife during the weekends.. too many (crazy) localsthen watch out for bikers, as they are all crazy, too, whichever country they are from... and don't keep the time at least for the first 15 laps! 2001gti
from what i have heard, just take your time and enjoy it rather than bolting it round.
Jenna
Even if you think you can handle the upcoming corner, ALWAYS break if the Porsche infront is!! And don't wear a barber jacket to go round in like some poeple do, its lame.

paulgti
yayy.. when u going buddy im there on the 10th april for 4 days.1st tip.. learn the lines... take it easy... and dont time your-self.chat to other ppl in the car park, and hopefully u will find a local who will let u follow him round at just a good pace so u can learn it. or sit next to you, the locals are very friendly and their knowledge is outstanding!!i have just tipped over 100 laps and 7 years of trips atleast twice a year.. and still some corners will catch me out. but "touch wood" i have never crashed (jedi skills lol)just have fun. oh and try Cola-Weissen, a 50/50 mix of weissbier (strong lager) and Coke :) lol

LINCOLNSHIRESLUPOGTI
I went last summer and am going again this year. It had a great time last year, got a lap in the Ring taxi and also with some veterans who taught me a few things. There were loads of crashes when I was there, the track was shut more than it was open. I did 2 very cautious laps, it really is tricky to get a rhythm going as there are so many others who are really flying, and you better be ready to get out their way as they don't make allowance for you, so you spend more time looking in the mirror and moving over than you do looking ahead and picking your lines.I am taking the Elise in 4 weeks and going in a very nice convoy with an Exige, another Elise, a 911 turbo, an M3, an Escort Cosworth and maybe an M5. We should be easy to spot as we are convoying together.1.Enjoy it.2. Do lots of walking around the carparks, there will be some great cars to view.3.Try to get a lap in the Ring taxi. Unlikely you will be able to book in advance as the tickets go so fast but put your name down when you get there, chances are you will get a cancellation slot...I did.4.If you go on track please be careful, you will not be insured (impossible to get UK cover for the track) so take it easy and remember to keep checking mirror, the bikes really appear from nowhere when they are at 150mph+.5.Breakdown cover and insurance?6.Get on the autobahn and find some unrestricted areas. Last year we found some deserted stretches and it was bright, dry and clear so we did what we had to do

driveforward
I'll be there in the Arosa (see sig link) from the 9th - 14th at Easter, now done 160+ laps and had one crash.. enjoy it, take it easy, remember, you'll probably have more to loose than a works racing driver I don't know one regular who hasn't had an incident, so, as a n00b just take it easy
CheColes
a friend of mine went round in a subaru, and crashed, he had to pay over 3000 quid in barrier repairs alone. very pricey if you crash. then you would have to pay someone to tow your car all the way back to the UK, imagine the price of that...just make sure you have a way of paying for such drastic measures if you go, cos you never know... ZoweyB
I went to the nurburgring last year with Fastcar Mag.Just a few pointers i remember:When coming onto the track itself, for the first lap stay as far over to the left as you can and leave your left indicator on - this will let the more experienced drivers know you are new on the track.Always ALWAYS keep an eye in your mirror, as people so rightly said there are many bikers who attend daily and will be doing furious speedsIf you see an accident whilst driving round, do not stop!Always fill up before you go on the track....there is a petrol station down the road before you enter the car park anywayIf you want a ride in the ring taxi book sharpish, they get filled very quickly...i experienced this last year and went round with a lady - she was awesome ! Definately worth the euro's IMO.Dont get taking video camera's with you whilst going round the track, they will remove them from you.I cant remember where it is we went, but there is a car park where all the photographers go, its worth finding the toggers location because you can get some awesome shots.Thats all the main things i can think about. Dont go to the ring thinking your the dogs bollox, your not, there are more experienced people out there than you, so take it easy and enjoy a one in a lifetime experience.Another thing i will mention is that germany is so much better for roads and traffic than here. Lorries will stay in the left hand land and will not over take...The autobahn, well, wow. Truely amazing...you dont really know your on it, but when people are flying past you at a ton 60, then you know just follow them and enjoyHope it helpsDONT DROP LITTER ! you will be fined somewhere over the likes on £10,000,000 euro's. There are sign posts everywhere.
