I wanna know how quick one of these beasts will be!.....and also, what does it cost to tax a GTI?

DanGTI
could be just me but everyone seems to be selling up right now...maybe just cos Ive been looking harder. now looking at a slower but more luxurious polo instead of the GTI

DanGTI
doesnt seem that bad i was thinking about £160....oh heres a question for GTI owners....the UK one doesnt seem to have a glovebox, ive done an image search in google and some of the pictures (some i think japanese loops) show a glove compartment as standard.....is this something that can be bought & fitted? DubDub
The dreaded Glovebox question...I believe its just the UK version that dont have the Glovy. it has a useless piece of crap shelf that is only good for holding you 1ft long subway.Believe the ones on the continent have a "small" glovebox instead... AndyW
I'm sure someone way back when in the early days if the forum managed to buy one as a part from germany, or did I imagine that?
DubDub
Who is it thats friendly with some German VW dealership?Im sure someone was mentioning it th other day? Maybe we can find this part out??
bossjohnc
Andy, Think you imagined it - (I think anyway!)Jap loops seem to come without too - you can see from the recent interior pics of the crash damaged ones.I think the closest anyone's come to having a glovebox is Darren, who tried fitting the underside of his mate's Polo GTi dash to his loop. He found that the centre console was a slightly different shape, possibly to accomodate climate control.Lower model MK5 polo dashes might work... bossjohnc
You been smoking again Andi? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />Only problem with German dashes is that everything will be on the wrong side!
Tigzâ„¢
QUOTE(bossjohnc)Lower model MK5 polo dashes might work...I was commenting on this idea. The under dash looks about the same, I know it'll be longer, but Im sure it could be trimmed. bossjohnc
I must confess that Darren had this idea, and no - the Polo GTi dash is exactly the same width, so I expect a normal Polo dash will be the same width.Probably wouldn't take much to get it to fit. DanGTI
youve lost me here, fit a polo dash to a lupo?
DubDub
Polo dash is v.similar to Lupo. hence why you can possibly change parts.
DanGTI
i get that cos my mums got a mk5 polo but just dont get how you could actually do it
LINCOLNSHIRESLUPOGTI
I may get round to trying a `non-Gti` Polo dash sometime. Trimming stuff doesnt bother me...wheel arches, front wheels to clear brakes, front calliper carriers, front splitter,Audi rear wiper. My angle grinder has met nearly every bit of my car so the dash wont worry it.*edit* I didnt mean the whole dash, just the passenger side lower part and glovebox! DubDub
It a wonder your Lupo aint a few inches shorter with all the trimming your doing? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
