After a descussion yesterday I was just wondering why it is that an 03 reg onwards are alot heavier than previous to this?

I know cars pre 2003 were built in Germany, and onwards were built in England :cry:

Yeah, have to do that. I'll ask my pa when he's next down there. Last time I asked he wasn't down for some time but summer's around the corner now.

Well, theres definately a difference in build quality between my y reg and andi's 03 reg. Feels like a different car- as if his isnt even a vw.

i have noticed this - 1015kg against 979kg i believe

its because of the emissions tax change the 1015Kg

is the car with every option fitted and is the worst

case scenario - therefore the weight will

effect the emissions output. On my DVLA V5 it states 979Kg

which is correct as I have not options fitted on my 03 model.

The first models weighed 978Kg the extra Kg the extra gear?

They have moved production over form Germany to Spain a couple

of years ago and my GTi is not as well finished as my 2000 sport.

My cars an 03 with air con+a few other options fitted but the reg doc still says it wieghs 979kg. Wot year did they move production? does any1 else have a date writen on the passenger window rubber or there car, I,m assuming it was the date it came off the production line :?: :?:
