lupo_gaz
As i'm driving the temp gauge just drops to flat cold and then it can just pop back up to the normal temp. it's dropping and going up like i've just swtiched the engine off and back on. is this a bad thing and does anyone know what it 'might' be. hope someone can help. Arosa_03
Hi,mine does the same occasionally, garage quoted me £38 plus fitting.out of interest, how difficult is it to fit myself, baring in mind I've got a TDi.also this might sound a bit dumb, why but do I need the coolant? does it leak when you're swapping it or something?thankskeith
Tigz™
The senosr goes through a hole in your engine. When you remove it the sealed hole is not longer sealed so if you dont drain the coolent first it will leak out of the hole. The sensor is measureing the temp of the engine coolent.Once replaced your engine wont have any coolent in the engine.Thats why you need coolent.
