Central locking- code?

Recommended Posts

My 1.0 Arosa locks when i drive over 5mph or something like that then unlocks when i remove the key, but my TDi doesnt.

Just wondered how you set this?

Or dont 02 reg cars have this feature?

Thanks, Chris

Needs to be turned on using vag-com or similar smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Lee.

Really, that seems slightly complicated. I was kind of sure that i programmed mine to lock when i got it, but couldnt remember how to do it. I know with our renaults all you do is keep the lock button pressed for a few seconds, but that didnt work, so it seems you maybe right lol.

I enquired at my local vw specialist today and they said they could probably do it but i would need to get the code for it huh.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

So anyway i think ill take it to the stealer tomorrow, surely they wont charge much, also want them to take out my radio.

I'd like to get this done on mine - keep us posted

Well i took my car to VW today to get it programmed to lock automatically. However they could not get into the electronics on the car with the computer, they said Seat must use different codes or there is a fault with my car (hope not blink.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> ). Anyway so i forced myself to book it into my local seat stealer (something i would rather not do). Well i think its going to be a 10 min job but ofcourse my local, ultra-unreliable, seat dealer cannot spare 10 mins for another 2 weeks ohmy.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> , just typical of them wink.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> .

Ill let you know how it goes in two weeks then.

Well on the day its supposed to be going in for the programming its booked in somewhere else to have the cambelt changed and some other bits and pieces. So im cancelling the seat garage as thats the only day i can spare the car for a few weeks,

anyway the garage im taking it to said they could program it but they would need the code to enter to set the locking. Dont suppose anyone would know it or knows how i could find it out smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

STOP STOP STOP

I got mine done for free by "VWR lupo", using VAG COM software, I think its just the case of a check box on the software so they are ripping you off! It takes less than 2 minutes

Go to a vw specialist, they'll no doubt have vag com somewhere, and be able to use it to do it very cheaply if not free. and yes... VW and seat can both use VAG com, as we found out at the leicester meet!

Thanks for your reply, i know its a rip off but my other local seat garage wanted £62!.

I did take it to VW first when i was there once, they had a go at doing it but couldnt get into my car with their codes, and i was watching the mechanic while he was trying to code it and it just wanst doing anything, so he said the codes must be different, which i thought was strange.

But VW just did it for nothing, even though it didnt work they wernt going to charge me if it did.

There is a VAG specialist i know and he said if i got the code for the Seat he could code it, but i dont know how i would get the code, and i doubt if the seat dealer would.

hmm I still think its a relatively simple check box on VAG COM rather than a code :| probably best to send a PM to "VWR Lupo" as he knows how to do it and so will advice you on what to do!

I think it is a code, but surely the codes would be the same for arosa and lupo, but it seems there not.

Really, you don't have to take it to SEAT - Luke was doing it in a few minutes, and if you do need a code then he must know it!

Yeah i know it only take a few minutes but as usual the dealer streches things and says it will be done within the hour. But will he know the seat code, as it seems they are different coded.

The VW dealer did say that either the codes are different for the seat or there is a fault with my car, but eveything seems fine, i might take it along to the VAG specialist to see if he can even get into the codes in my car. Do you think the SEAT dealer will charge even if there is a fault with my car and they carnt do it?

I would seriouslay ask VWR, as it can't be a different code for each car if Luke was setting it up on several cars one after the other.

Maybe its something to do with it being a TDI? Only thing I could think of, but can't imagine why it would make a difference

mate I really think they've told you a load of crap, but speak to Luke (VWR Lupo) and see what he says. At the leicester meet he was going from car to car (lupo and arosa) just activating it using the central port under the ashtray. I didn't know you could get it on lupos until he did it for me.

Looking at what he did on the computer i'm pretty sure he just checked a box on the console.

Oh right, cheers for the info, i will pm VWR and ask i think smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> .

But it seems strange that VW couldnt do it, it must be that there is a fault with my car then sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> but surely there would be other problems, like running problems if the computer wasnt working properly.

look at this, may be of some use maybe:

http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?sho...c=25414&hl=

I did see it thanks, i even posted on there smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ,

maybe a 2002 Arosa doesnt have the option then, as VW couldnt get it to work sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

But my 2003 does, why is it so complicated, our renaults all you do is hold the lock button for a few seconds and thats it, hold it again if you want to take the anti hyjacking off.
