Desperate Tyre Help Please!!
MattEB replied to MattEB's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
Looks like Mytyres is going to be the way ahead then and it also looks like celica (sillycar!) journey up to see my folks tonight then Harumph! Really wanted to drive the loop today too, its been 2 months too long! Can I get another Harumph? HARUMPH! Thankyou. -
Just got back from 2 months overseas and found the trusty loop has two shagged front tyres (the missus has been driving like a woman possessed!) and I need some new standard size tyres today or else I've got to travel upto my folks in the missus's Celica BOO HISS! Any help much appreciated. Oh I am in the Reading area by the way. Cheers EB ps Like the new forum layout/format thingy

Is 2.3Bar absolute not actually 1.3bar relative which equals out to about 17-18psi in reality anyway........ or am I just confusing myself. I could be wrong on this but I thought 1 Bar was 14.(something) psi which means your 'chipped' and std pressure figures are in fact the same?? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" />

Me too! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Hole in the ring! Anne Robinson eat your heart out!!

Rover slogan.... 'Above all its a Rover' now should read..... 'Above all its a Rong Wei to design a car!'
-
That car looks cool, I would get one (maybe for the missus though!), enough retro style but still enough modern design.

I like Sir Digby Chicken Caesar, one of the best characters in the show.

I go over to germany fairly often to see family so I was going to see if could get some whilst i was there, thought they might be cheaper. If I find some I will let you know, work is being a pain so not exactly sure when I next be going over.

Anyone done this on a 02 Loop GTi?
-
Sounds like a tuning company that tell the truth with power figures and don't just pluck figures from thin air! Who are they?
-
H&R ?? do them at 15mm thickness, i was considering them for fitting OE Monza's but looks like too big an offset with the adaptors.
-
Not too sure how to host/post photo's so no pics at the mo, sorry. The Ebay shop is Here, comms can be a little slow with these folks but the product is really good, I had no need to cut bolts down or any of that faff so it was all done in just a few mins style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

This is only a guess....is one variable valve timing and the other not? I could be very wrong on this! Yeah I remember seeing the post on here before too, I will have a look.
-
Sounds like a lot of potential for a knackered engine to me, but if you do it well done. Think your first step would be to change the scaling on a lot of timing/position sensors first and then once that is done (no easy task) start work on the engine mapping. Not heard of these ECU map CD's on ebay before??? EDIT- Looks quite limited as to what you can do and not GTi compliant either-EDIT I would say get the correct ECU for the engine and tune that if you fancy a go, it should be much more rewarding and much less costly on stuffed engines that way!
-
Not looked inside my ECU yet! thinking about getting a serial port reprogram done though. I will find out about the accessability of the chip though and keep you all upto date.
-
Does anyone know whether I can get a OEM toggle switch for the switch panel on my Loop GTi?
-
15 to 17BHP this I have to see, well independent rolling road figures anyway! Are there refunds if the power increase is not as specified?

how this thread should have started...... Ladies and Genlemen..... This evenings main attraction..... In the red corner, weighing a little too much but with a hell of a punch.....DIESEL and in the blue corner the floats like a butterfly stings like a bee......PETROL!! Please pin this thread its sooooo funny IMO (legalalities done away with three simple letters!!!) style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflmao:" border="0" alt="roflmao.gif" />

I used to work for a tuning company a few years ago working on ECU's and can tell you there are other ECU's out there that are 'glued' (potted) but not that many of them. One opinion we came to was that the ECU maybe subject to water ingress and is potted to prevent this, another idea was that the ECU is indeed potted to prevent tampering with the ECU. I however feel this is a decision taken by the ECU manufacturers and not VW and is Lupo GTi specific because it runs a different spec computer ie Simos and is to prevent water imgress. Removing potting/glue can be done on the whole ECU and then once the location of the memory device (chip) has been found you only need to remove that portion of the glue to gain access to the chip. Oh just thought Simos may not even have a seperate memory device it may be in the processor Hope this helps clarify the Loop GTi ECU situation a bit. Before anyone asks I will not disclose which tuning company I worked for!

Some of them look quite good in a crazy cartoon way, you know stereotyped....errrrr... think I might be on my own on this. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Get them banned from sale to the public and only have organised licensed events. Why are they still sold in high street shops anyway,I thought the goverment would have banned them ages ago as they are soo dangerous. Firearm and shotgun licenses are issued by the police after strict criteria are met yet any adult can buy fireworks.........CRAZY!
