The factory pipe has approx 5mm ID and all the fittings are about that as well. The 1/4 bsp hose is 6mm ID which is why i chose it but the 1/4 fittings are about 3.5mm ID so may put a bit more strain on the pump, they may well be fine though but I think 3/8 fittings is the way to go. Cheers Sausage -They turned up yesterday, all sizes in MM ID of the 90 degree metal bend is 6.93 OD of the flex hose is 17.84 Adaptor ID's: M14 7.2 - M16 7.65 Let me know if you need more sizes
Sausage
Nice one, there wasnt any need in the end as i just went ahead and bought the bits in 3/8, the hose has turned up just now and the bore on the fittings looks lovely. Will install when the adapters turn up. I should have done a feel test on my steering before putting the kit on it for comparison purposes (doh!). Spot the 3/8 fitting..... What a rip off copper washers are, bought 10 of each 1.5mm thick M14 and M16 for £8 delivered for a few grams of copper. Sausage
I have a strange feeling of deja vu... And the result is.... the same. I think my steering always did have the slight chatter at the wheel come to think about it. The offending pipe: Falling apart under the rubber. danno
One of our power steering pipes on the tdi is from a 1.4 mk3 golf, slightly different shape but works nonetheless (desperate times and easier to get hold of). I need to replace the other so this is a good thread. @Rich is this what you were talking about?
