  1. Right so i bought my self A set of, Cades eros alloy wheels for my 1999 vw lupo 1.4 16 v Here they are: http://s1211.beta.photobucket.com/user/summit-awesome/media/SNV11769.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3 they are 15" x 6.5, 100 x 4 with et 30. the issue i'm having is actually with the front wheels. when the wheels are mounted to the front they actually hang over the bell and have actually ground the pads and the inside of the wheels away. http://s1211.beta.photobucket.com/user/summit-awesome/media/SNV11762.jpg.html?sort=3&o=4 http://s1211.beta.photobucket.com/user/summit-awesome/media/SNV11772.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 Why this is happening I don't know. it has me absolutely baffled. Measurements have been took of the pads and the discs and everything are the sizes that they should be. any advice would be appreciated. Thanks guys

  9. NERO

    1.7 sdi Backbox.

Ok, so I am considering buying a sdi lupo. But the problem is there is no one on ebay that makes a preformance backbox for the lupo. I can only find the standard one. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Exhaust-Rear-Back-Box-VW-LUPO-1-4-TDI-1-7-SDI-1998-2005-/110636840192?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19c2783500#ht_3601wt_1265 There is also a universal backbox. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/VW-CC-PHAETON-SHARAN-TOUAREG-LUPO-UNIVERSAL-PERFORMANCE-EXHAUST-BACK-BOX-LMS-001-/150875918370?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2320e7d022#ht_4831wt_12 But, Is there an onother vw backbox that would fit the sdi lupo? such as passat, bora or golf?
  10. is it be possible to swap the vw lupo lower bumper for the seat one, just wondered because the seat arosa one looks sick with the vents and the lip!
  11. Do you HAVE to remove the alternator to get the part number or are all the part numbers the same for a GTI? I kind of need my car every day and it would be pretty much a big hassle to remove the alternator then have to re-attach it. GTI 2001 no air-con so i'm guessing a 70amp alternator? 90amp will do the job as well?
  12. if not does anyone know a body kit similar to the gti because ive heard the gti has a lot more panels rather than just the kit cheers guys
  13. So my beloved 1litre is nearly dead. Anyone know any companies out there that will source an engine and swap them for me? And does anyone know if it's possible to swap from 1.0 to 1.4 with ease, like is or just a mount change or are the shapes completely different? I live in South Wales of anyone knows anywhere local... Thanks.
  14. been looking at a body kit for my lupo, and on the rear bumper the exhaust is in the right rather than left. would it cost anything to have the exhaust moved so it is in the middle. heres the link: http://www.madmotors.co.uk/bodykits-spoilers-14000/body-kits/vw/vw-lupo/ingo-noak-tuning-vw-lupo-98-look-rear-bumper.html and heres the front, just wondering if id need to change anything to put this on http://www.madmotors.co.uk/bodykits-spoilers-14000/body-kits/vw/vw-lupo/ingo-noak-tuning-vw-lupo-98-05-look-front-bumper.html last note, what side skirts would you recommend to use with this kit because there actually isnt any side skirts built with them cheers guys
  15. Hello all! Been on here a few months but decided i should share my lupo with the world (of lupo owners!) So its a 2001 1.0 Litre yellow lupo. i bought it for a great price but i figured it needed some money spending on it to make it a good runner. i bought it for the mpg i could get however im having the infamous cranksensor/ limp mode/ engine warning light issues. i figure it is the egr sensor? i replaced the other sensor a couple of months ago and also cleaned the throttle body/ air filter and did an oil change. This seemed to help but alas the problem has returned and im just living with it. Anyways when i got her the right passanger side front panal is a pressed plate and slightly different colour. i figured i could live with it but ultimatly i want to replace it with an oem in the same colour code. So i am gonna try posting what i have done from the day i got my car and what i plan on doing. Any comments or suggestions welcome, if you have any criticisms all are welcome. The Day i got her! Was given these by a friend so decided to run them! 185/55/15 bigger profile than i would like but for free who can complain??!
  16. when you debadge the lupo there is a small semi circle cut out which i obviously dont want. i was wondering if anyone had an idea of the cost to get a metal plate welded on and sprayed?
  17. Hi guys, Have a few questions that I hope someone can enlighten me and maybe some others on the vw lupo gearbox and vw lupo bumpstrips. Question 1. Could someone tell me what can be done to fix a vw lupo gearbox? Lupo gearboxes are notorious for failing but I am still a little curious. It changes smoothly in all gears except when I change DOWN from fifth to fourth it will not directly engage, I have to go up into third gear and then into fourth. Going from fourth to fifth is alright but I cant figure out what is causing it. I have tried researching but because thses gearboxes create hassle it is difficult to find an answer relevan to the problem. We seen somewhere that if you fix or replace the gear linkage it should fix the problem but I am wondering if some can help? Question 2. A while ago the driver's side bumpstrip fell off to reveal a metal strip screwed into the door? Was this done to some vw lupos or did someone do a bodge on the door? I am not sure if they are all screwed on and I am afraid to remove the rest for the time being until someone can offer some info. Apologies for the long post but these little things have been annoying me for a while now and it would be nice to fix them or at least try. Thanks in advance, Jake.
  18. was just wondering if XXR 521s would fit on a lupo 98-01? i dont know too much about cars besides the basics so if the advice could be simple that would help thanks
  19. Hi there guys, I recently bought r32 heated leathers for my Lupo which came with the loom and also the mk4 golf switches which fit the later Lupo dash. My Lupo has the earlier dash which means that these switches will not fit. Then I stumbled on a pair of the switches on ebay and bought them to find out that the connectors on the rear are completely different to those of mk4 switches so i cant connect the loom up to the switches. Is there any chance i can purchase connectors for the earlier switches from anywhere therefore allowing me to mod the loom to fit them or have i got to buy another loom that will fit into the connectors? Abit of a dilemma really haha but yeah any help would be appreciated, here are some pictures of what i have: Loom which i recieved with seats MK4 switches/connector Lupo Early dash switches/Connector
  20. Hi, Was wondering if anyone could tell me who to contact for vw lupo 3l parts? Is there anyone on here that could supply these parts or order them for me or is it possible to go to a dealership and order them? The codes are available but they its ordering them that seems to be a problem. Any help appreciated and thanks in advance. Have a good day.
  21. The Problem My brother in Law just got a Lupo 1.4 Sport 16v, AFH engine, Cable throttle. The revs keep dropping on it. Try and hold it at a constant RPM and it will be fine for 4 or 5 seconds then the revs will drop. Sometimes they drop lower than other times. Sometimes they come back up to where they were, sometimes they don't and it goes to idle level. Relavent History Aparently the guy who sold the car said it had had a new Throttle Body fitted at some point. What I have tried First Attempt Straight away I noticed quite a bit of oil in the air filter, coming in from the crank breather pipe. So I thought that might be the problem. Cleaned out the breather pipe as it was blocked with thick mayo, then cleaned out the crank breather filter/seperator box as that was blocked too. Then I noticed oil leaking from the underside of the intake manifold, so I opened that up and cleaned it all out and re-sealed with some high temp silicone gasket. While it was apart I noticed that the sensor on the left side of the Intake manifold (opposite side to the Throttle body) was covered in oil, so I sprayed a bit of electrical contact cleaner on it. I also cleaned out the inside of the Throttle body, just the butterfly area, I did not open up the black cover. So I put it back together and the problem was still there. Second Attempt I have mechanic friend who has just got an expensive new Snap-On fault scanner so I borrowed that and pulled the codes. But neither of us really know how to use it other than to pull engine codes and turn off engine/service lights. It came back with: 00519 Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor (G71) Open Circuit / Short With Power Intermittant 00518 Throttle Position Sensor (G69) Open Circuit / Short With Power Intermittant 0530 Throttle Position Sensor (G88) Open Circuit / Short With Power Intermittant 00523 Intake Air Temp Sensor (G42) Open Circuit / Short With Power Intermittant 00282 Throttle Position Actuator (V60) Output Open Intermittant There was no engine light on, so I thought that perhaps these were old codes from when the old throttle body failed. So I hoped that cleaning them might sort the problem and I could also see if any of the codes came back. So I cleared the codes and the problem was still there. I was testing it while parked on the drive for about 40 mins and none of the fault codes have come back. Third Attempt It had a function on the scanner to 'Reset Throttle Body' so my mate tried it. Anyway it did its thing, we tried it and the problem was completely different and much worse!! It wouldn't hold stable revs at all. So we did a code scan and it came back with: 01087 Basic Setting Not Performed So I went and googled that while he kept trying the 'Reset Throttle Body' function and did all the actuator tests on the scan tool. When I came back out the code had gone and the problem was back to its original state. Phewww What Can I Do Next? - Can I open up the black plastic part of the Throttle Body and clean out anything in there? Anything else? after that I'm stumped....... Please Help!!
  22. Hi all New member from Cardiff here. Aquired a flame red GTI last Friday with 74,000 miles on the clock and FSH. Was asking for 4k but bagged it for £3200 in the end. Umolested example with seemingly no problems apart from the common squeak on start up. Well happy and drives like a charm, brings a smile to my face everytime I drive it, even traffic jams are a joy - loving that burble! Booked in for a major service on Monday as it is due one, let's see what that throws up. No plans as of yet, just keep it clean and shiny and enjoy the ride!
