Got myself a black VW Lupo 1.0L in black as a first car and looking for some cheap mods as I am on a budget but want the car to look and possibly perform better?

After recently K.O'ing my battery my EPC and check engine light have been on, i also have the issue that my ecu port does not seem to work so I can't plug it in and find out whats up! can anyone help? I don't know where to begin looking, as the EPC light isnt on constantly where as the check engine light seems to be majority of the time. The car will start occassionally with neither on but after a couple of minutes they come back on Please help!

So I took out insurance with Autosaint and declared that I have aftermarket alloys, and explained they are 15x7 and 15x8 and they said they would insure it but it would cost more so I then agreed and paid the extra. 12 days down the line a mechanic came to fit a black box and then took some photos of the wheel and the rest of the car, sent the to the insurance company and then informed me that they refused to insure them! They are now telling me I have put wheel spacers on them, which I haven't and not declared it! So I'm unsure as to what to do!

I had a little bump at about 5mph the other day, and now the front bumper on the passenger side has been pushed out abit nothing major just about 5-10 mm and the plastic trim that holds the indicators on the front has been pushed out I think. So basically does anyone know how to fix this with out taking it to the body shop?

Hello everyone I passed my driving test at the beginning of December, after third time trying, it took me forever to decide on a first car until i was randomly browsing before bed and i seen this 04 plate beauty! 58,500 on the clock & full service history, i compare the price with other lupos around my area and it was a bargain at £1,995 and i've loved it ever since! Just need some inspiration and help on how to make this beauty even more prettier to look at and drive!

Hey guys, just picked up a set of Direnza coilovers for my 02 Arosa. Had a good luck through the forums and couldn't really find a decent guide on how to fit them. I know the general idea of the fitting process, but i'd rather not cock anything up. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Adam

=PRICE DROPPED= -Now £1100- Selling my wonderful little car, in the family since new. Runs perfectly, 84308 Miles. 1.4L 16v, 5 speed Manual. Never had an issue with it; the only negative is a few carpark scuffs (pictured) and chips, otherwise immaculate. Interior is in great condition. Central locking, PAS, driver and passenger airbag, central door locking, electric windows. The car has been well looked after and has been well serviced, oil and filters every year. A full History and all receipts are present. Two new tyres on the front. MOT till May 23rd and it'll sail through the next one. Very sad to see it go, but a new car forces the sale. Hey there everyone, my names Jonny and I’m 15 so I don’t drive anything I’m afraid but my brother got a 1.0 E lupo in soft blue back in August as his first car and I love it! This is how it looked when he first got it (sorry for awful pictures) So since then I have been doing all sorts to it. I started by painting the steel wheels black for underneath the trims but we preferred it without the trims so I started to look for some centre caps and found these bad boys on ebay. Old polo centre caps after that I blacked out all of the badges and colour coded the front after that I stared to paint some scratches and rock chips on the car rat look then I had enough of the skanky plates so I got some nice clean pressed plates then Id had enough of full black steelies so I painted a silver rim then a good clean then I installed some new pioneer front and rear coaxial speakers after that I bought some genuine mudflaps and some nice roof bars and then this week I have been wrapping the interior plastics in glossy black before: during: after: well that's all for now, thanks for looking I am open to suggestions

I am wondering is there a way to remove the plastic protection trim that is attached to the outside of the door to protect from people banging your door? If so can some body explain how to take it off please? Thanks

So after a rocky start to Lupo ownership I finally have my gti up and running. Bought myself a 73k silver gti from a dealer for it to start losing oil straight away. After a lot of negotiating, the dealer payed for an engine rebuild, so now I have a fresh engine! The plan is to keep the car oem. I intend on driving it across Europe next year and love a good roadtrip, so I'm getting it set up for that. I've added AP coilovers, ordered a whiteline anti roll bar. And will be putting 15mm spacers on the rear. Then just tidy up the bodywork and alloys. Not sure whether to take the wind deflectors and tinted windows off?

Hey guys, I’ve been lurking here for well over a year now. Been checking out some of the sweet rides here and decided that its finally time to write up a built thread of my own! I bought my Lupo in January 2012 for my first car, It was a pretty bog standard black Lupo 1.0 E. Got it for £800 and that is reflected in the paint work as there is a scuff on the front bumper and the paint is fairly poor all over and it was on 84k miles. This is the car when I first bought it: The car sat on the drive until March, when I turned 18 and sorted out my insurance. Straight away I de-wipered and de-badged the car, sorted out a cup holder as I had a gaping DIN hole in my dash and bought a Sony BTU3900 head unit. Didn't do much for a while, then some pop-out windows 'popped' up for sale and I snapped them up. Was a bit of a ball ache fitting them, Used a push-bike v-brake cable to cut out the old windows. Managed to shatter one of the old windows on the way out and ended up having to clean glass up of most of my driveway and inside the car as it sort of exploded. After the pop-outs were fitted I didn't. really do much else to the car for a while until a few months later I bought some coilovers. Didn't have much money so I bought myself some JOMS. Took the car down to a relatives garage when they arrived and had them fitted in about 30 minutes. Didn't go too low at first as this was the first time I was doing anything like this and didn't know what to expect. Shortly after on a routine Ebay trawl I found some wheels that I really liked on Ebay. They were Borbet Atiwes – 13 x 7 et20. Managed to pick them up at the bargain price of £170 posted for 5 wheels. Got them for that as they were in dire need of a refurb. I got them like this: After many hand blistering hours over the winter I managed to get the dish like glass. I held a newspaper up to it and could read it in the reflection. Once that was done, I prepped the centers and masked the dish and took the wheels to a guy I knew in the powder coating industry, So I managed to get them done on the side for free. This is what they looked like after the refurb: While in the process of sorting out tires for the wheels I also removed the bump strips from the car with a lot of help from my friend James Brown as I think it makes them looks a lot cleaner. I eventually ordered the tires and as you can see above I went for some 165/55 Nankangs. Headed over to my granddads as he has a decent garage and tools, got the wheels fitted and lowered the car to compensate for the 13" wheels. Since putting the wheels on I've not really done much apart from the (very) occasional clean and just generally driven it around. I've borrowed some roof bars off a mate to see how they look and I'm loving it. They have completely transformed the look of my car in my eyes. Some possible plans for the future are: - Smooth the front bumper - Re trim the interior - Buy some of my own roofbars - Possibly paint the insides of my headlights black - Roll my arches due to light scrubbing - Pressed plates Thanks for reading

HI, I recently got myself a second hand lupo and i'm in love with the car. Only problem being that when I pull the level to open the bonnet the lever just pops off and i have to put back on, is there something i need to be pulling on or something to press. Thanks, Dom

I was wondering would it be possible to swap 5th out of a diesel gear box such as a 1.7 sdi gear box and install the 5th gear into my 5 speed lupo gti gearbox so I can have a longer 5th gear? I haven't seen anyone else post about it so I'm wondering if it is possible to swap or is there another way around it??? Would be great if someone could get bavk with a answer, cheers.

Im Beth and this is Leeroy the Lupo 1.0 Spotted this little guy on eBay so took a trip up to derby and after a quick look round and a test drive the keys were handed over and Leeroy was on his way to his new home! Unfortunately the main reason for purchase was because my Lupo (Named Lily) was written off by some ****'s at the start of December 2014.
