  4. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK4-POLO-LUPO-AHW-1-4-16v-1-6-5-SPEED-MANUAL-GEARBOX-RECONDITIONED-/300686447661?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item46024f142d#ht_500wt_1287 Just found this, title reckons it'll fit a lupo, I'm inclined to think otherwise. Your thoughts?
  5. the spare wheel wells are different unfortunately. To fit you'd need to cut out your exsisting one and weld in one from a sport, or just weld up the hole. either way you need to weld! Edit: Damn, beaten by the scotty himself

    HID

Depends, if its an actual HID kit, with all the headlight housing, no. As they have completely different headlights, if its just the bulbs, then its not a HID kit, just bright bulbs, then i believe they are the same, but you'll need someone else to confirm this
  7. Spotted at the BP outside the Butts. Silver, red bbs/lenso's with a chequered roof, looked pretty sick
  8. It was the guys from wheelcourier.com. I've used them a few times before, without any problems. I reckon i've been fobbed off by the seller
  9. So, I organise a courier to pick up a front bumper from bristol, they e-mail me the following day saying there was a 'technical problem' and they wouldn't be able to collect. They ask to re-book and by gesture of goodwill, they offer to upgrade to next day delivery free of charge. Two days pass, nothing. Third day, I ask whats going on, they tell me that an attempt was made but there was no answer. I confirm with the sender that the address is a garage open 9-5 every weekday. I re-book for friday. Come monday i've still no bumper, i ask the sender if they collected, and he says yes, it was picked up friday afternoon. wednesday, still no parcel, ask the courier whats going on, again, attempted but unsuccesful. Wait what. I explain that the item had already been collected, they ask for the collection manifest. According to the sender, they used a handheld signed for device. Well "according to our records, no collection was made, when would you like to re-book for?." Okay, we'll re-book for the item thats already been collected by someone. I'm now stuck in limbo trying to get the ID of the person who collected, and what the couriers are going to do about it. Otherwise, thats price+postage down the toilet. Great one.
  10. I would imagine so, same engine and gearbox
  11. Halfords sell a repairer specifically for that purpose, can't remember exactly what its called. Its in a little black box with a 50's style portrait of a woman repairing the element. I think it was autosol or something?
  12. Mine is exactly the same buddy, first thoughts is that the hangars are worn/stretched, perhaps look at getting a new rubber hanger to see if that does anything? It never bothered me much personally, but thats the first thing i'd look at
  13. Had a bit more of a play, maybe an idea of whats to come? First question is what will be the first conversion into the GT?
  14. Found this nice group photo of the various versions of the UP! I'll update again when i can work out what to do with the eco and e-UP!'s For now though, its pretty much just rim choice with very little other attention to detail! Something for you to look at at least

    Boot Popper

If you can be bothered to trace the wires into the fuse box and back again, that would be a more professional finish, but as long as the wiring is soldered properly to the relay and secured down, there's nothing stopping you from securing the relay to the inside of the bootlid. There should be a small tab with a screw hole it it that you can use

    Boot Popper

If you were to invert the way the relay is wired, such that the boot popper works opposite to the way the wiper would have, it should only open with the ignition off. I'm yet to do that, but then i've never accidentally popped the boot. Unless you have super strong boot lifters, it wont open itself, it'll just sit on the latch until you lift and close the boot again yourself. Unless you have a window open and your moving quite quickly, the air pressure in the car may build up and force the boot open, but its unlikely
  18. I agree entirely, our systems have gotten things like bulb and battery fitments incorrect, I often struggle to trust them sometimes XD But yeah, definitely get in touch with Dale or someone at VW for a definitive answer

    Boot Popper

if you delete the windscreen wash and wipe along with the handle, you can use the wiring for the washer to pop the solenoid. You will need to install a relay as for me, the popper only works as the washer would i.e. only with the ignition on. If you install a relay, get a power feed to the back of the car, and a relay attached to the washer wire. there will be instructions on how to wire it up in the relay box, take the power feed as 12v in, the washer wiring as the switch, the solenoid as the accessory and then finally the earth. You should be able to fit this all within the bootlid itself without a problem. How the solenoid itself works is dependent on the type of solenoid you have, ideally you want a sprung one, as that will automatically lock itself once the button is unpressed. If you get an unsprung solenoid, that will take one push to open the solenoid, and another to close it again. Hope that helps a bit
  20. Cat C as in the garage estimation is more than the value of the car. Came off the road at about 15-20 mph, hit some metal railings at the side of the road, the majority of the damage was done by the kerb to the underside, massive dent in the subframe at the connection to the nearside wishbone, as well as some scuffing on the gearbox, which seems to have opened a small leak into a bigger one
  21. I'll save starting a new topic, and this seems the most appropriate place to leave this Four new modified VW up! Will be shown in Geneva And direct link here...
  22. nahh, i never claimed on the insurance, the excess is huge, i'm paying for it off my own back. and you wont get much from the front mate, thats whats busted XD
  23. i work at halfords, looking for myself our systems reccomended 80w90, thats what i currently have in mine
  24. Who cares if they're 'euro' or not! If you like the style of the alloys then go for it, its always nice to see something that goes against the grain a bit
  25. Oh really? Big props for the smooth bumpers, it made this a lot easier to make for a start! They look really good, takes some getting used to, like seeing an old friend without glasses for the first time. Looks wicked though how did you get it done?
