  1. where did you find this pic? any chance of a better one? i've never seen this system before!
  2. BONUS! i know my bodyshop at work here would tell me to F**k OFF!
  3. vw specification is 4 years or 60 k, which ever is soonest!
  4. if u have the in-dash vw single cd player, u can connect a vw 6 cd boot changer to it, and then use the "select" switch to flip between the 2. it works fine for me! the boot changer cable is readily available from vw dealers, but is quite expensive frrom memory
  5. thats a good thing to hear! usually us dealers get a bashing from forum folk! just goes to show that not all of us are bad! as for the loan car, VW stipulate that a loan car must not be older than 6 months. and at least it was a 1.4, not a 1.2 slowcoach!
  6. part numbers for cambelts/tensioners as follows: 036 109 119 p (cambelt) 036 109 119 q (cambelt) 036 109 243 ad (tensioner) 036 109 243 ae (tensioner) 036 109 244 j (roller) from memory, the retail cost is around £135 all in, tho don't quote me on that!
  7. damn that sucks mate! we keep one in stock here now as i've had so many of em! 5 in a year!
  8. early polo gti had ARC engine code, which is still 1.6 16v with 125bhp, was used from november 1999 to april 2000 then the AVY code took over from May 2000 onwards
  9. god ur a fussy sod! tyres look very interesting tho!
  10. oops, sorry! cambelt is around the £350-£390 mark i think in addition to the 40k service!
  11. 40K oil, air, pollen filters spark plugs oil screenwash should be around the £450 mark i think cambelt parts alone for a gti come to around £130 retail
  12. pm me ur reg or chassis no and i'll get back to you!
  13. it'll be the hazard switch, has the relay built in, part no 6n0 953 235 b 302 cost is £15.98 inc vat retail
  14. sorry mate! not been around much lately! if ya still ned the bits, give me a call!
  15. damn, this thread is funny! read it all from start to finish! i don't have any tattoo's, tho thought about it! not sure i'd want something permanently on me like that! an ex g/friend had 2 tattoos, an aztec sun at the bottom of her back, and a butterfly near her bellybutton. i was with her on both occassions whilst having them done, and thought that they were very tasteful, and not always on show! a guy i work with is covered from head to foot, and still not finished, but its all custom work, and not always on show. the ones he's shown me on his arms are amazing, and i appreciate the work gone into them. i have never associated tattoos with murderers, muggers or rapists etc, as its not the tattoo that makes you who you are. i agree that first impressions count, but i wouldn't turn a tattoo'd person down for a job. thats discrimination. its a personal choice to have them.
  16. i think the wiring will be different too, as most new vw's use canbus system for diagnosis of vehicles systems and data transfer. the mk5 golf uses a loom called Quadlock, tho adaptors can be bought from connects2!
  17. i'm 27, have 5yrs ncb and pay £630 fully comp with protected ncb on an 03 gti thru churchill! really does pay to shop around, and even question ur existing insurance company if the cost has gone up! mine shot up to £900 (27 yrs old!?), so i phoned them, fiddled around with excesses, (now £250, not £200), and it dropped to £630! Amazing!
  18. hence the reason lupos are fitted with a heater on the breather pipe to stop this happening! i know mines got one, coz it went wrong when i 1st got my gti! its official vw tag is "breather pipe for vehicles in cold climates"!
  19. i agree with babs! my understanding is that u can do what u like, but whatever u change won't be covered!
  20. i got leather!! not sure that i would pay the over-inflated vw price for it, but welcomed all the same ! especially the heated part!!!!

    MKV R32

we got one here too, had a sit in it! seats are fantastic, but it doesn't look very special!
  22. on the single cd player, the blue connector slot is for connecting a cd-changer. u press the select button on the unit to select it. so i don't see any reason why using this connection and selecting it thru the cd player, that it wouldn't work!
  23. i'll have a look later today (when i'm at work!) for ya!
