  1. Had copper grease on my coilovers, they were KW's though. Didn't do them a bit of harm and the platforms moved freely throughout my time using them. Apain to clean off to sell them though.......
  2. Yes. The std Lupo suits serious lowerage far better as a result. But now that I have a GTI I realise how many nice wee details I like more: like the nice little lip of the 'side skirts', like an old shape RS4/RS6; Xenons; Squared grille shape; less rounded underspoiler; centre exhaust that is longer and more visible than sport etc. Then you step inside the interior, notice more cool stuff, and then drive the thing!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":coffee:" border="0" alt="coffee.gif" />
  3. LOL! Again! it was me style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />, was racing for Glasgow. I was spotted on my way there too...... I was frightened that some careless person would drop their skis/board on my paint the whole weekend! Did you go to the ball at murrayfield? - CARNAGE! Matt.
  4. Twas me in my new toy style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> Was going to a student dinner in edinburgh. It was chaos! It is lowered by 30mm. Matt
  5. 2 Days.............. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  6. If it helps, I once knocked a fuse out my battery box in my MK5 polo and then had no fan. Garage fixed it. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> Can't remember which one it is though.... Matt.
  7. Yes. VW dealers at present are asking 8k for a Lupo GTI with 55k on it. Madness! Although, as we know, the market for GTIs completly fluctuates of it's own accord.
  8. You get jumped? It's time to call the 'club lupo glasgow area kneecapping squad'. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":angry2:" border="0" alt="angry.gif" /> style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> Hope you are OK dude.
  9. Every model used over there has to be 'federalised', so if VW wanted the lupo to meet US specs, they would have to run it through the regulations, even if it was known to be within set parameters, the government wants it run through the expensive tests nonetheless. It is less strict than this for individual cars, however, but the main issue here is the engine has not been tested for smog and the like, which they are quite strict on in some states. There was a guy trying to import an S3 on vwvortex and even he was having trouble despite the fact that the TT is sold with the same engine over there! Some have done this, and are now importing smart fortwos, skylines etc - but it takes (lots of) time and money.
  10. Gear oil = cat's p*ss !!! Once helped a dude fit a new clutch to a transit van. He was done in an hour style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> . Think he might of missed something. Then I put the selector on wrong - I was not the brains of the operation. Nice transport for free though! Plus the P-slots give you away as a dubber.
  11. Ah yes, the lambo police car. (edited as I didn''t know it was lambo press)
  12. I have never bought another brand, and my family has had one car that wasn't VAG since I was born. It was a dissapointment style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> . I am not 'blinkered' though, I do like other makes, just not all their models. eg, love clio 182. Hate Scenic. But If I had to buy a people carrier I would buy a Touran, do you see? (oops, I forgot an E30 325 convertible when I was born, but thats so cool it's acceptable style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> )
  13. Oh, that is rough. I would be LIVID. thousands of pounds damage, (if its even repirable) I'm angry at my end of the computer, no wonder you feel like murder.
  14. Interested (if the price is right etc,etc style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> )
  15. I have found bell to be the cheapest of all the admiral group companies. They were 300 cheaper on all the cars I am looking at than my previous best, elephant. eg. Lupo gti 1000 Fabia VRS 980 Clio 182 1700 I am 20 with 1 years ncb, driveway, 2 claims style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="<_<" border="0" alt="dry.gif" /> , student.
  16. Yeah, just looked at the KW site and the TUV certification sheets. The only part different is the struts, they do not specify the difference, but this sounds about right. Already found some camber bolts to correct as you advise. Awesome, you just saved me 300 quid! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="cheers.gif" /> x10
  17. Tshirt2k says they will fit, just spring rates different. Swithering as to keep them or not. Need more opinions (please style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ). Anyone else have any idea before I sell these..............................
  18. I am looking for a GTI just now, so before I sell the coilovers I've got (normal lupo KW V1s), I'd like to check if anyone knew the difference betwwen the standard units and the GTI types? Anyone swapped their coils in a similar manner? Did they find it wierd due to the loss of weight? If it is just a bigger hole (As I thought I read somewhere, couldn't find in search) I will just get the local machine shop to sort me out. Could save me over 400 quid! Thanks, Matt
  19. No probs, this is all I've got. Anything missing? border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> Thanks.
  20. I am taking my coilovers off to trade up (I don't think old ladies would buy my car if it shook their dentures out!) I got one of the front coils off, but had a problem when it came to putting the old strut back on. I think the shop left something out the box when fitting them. I have, the following: 2x rubber coated metal retainers that sit very nicely in the rear springs. 2x metal rings sitting inside the bottom of the rear springs. 2x rubber bump stops on the top of the coilovers. 2x small metal bushes on the front shocks. 4x springs (2 front, 2rear). 4x shocks (2 front, 2 rear). My understandnig of the front strut assembly is (from the underside of the strut tower down): 1. rubber bush 2. metal ring to stop spring pushing past bush into chassis. ( I think I am missing this) 3. Spring 3.5. Small metal bush 4. Shock And the rear (shock is separate) 1. spring 2. metal ring inside spring 3. rubber coated retainer. Tried putting the spring on under the bush but it just pushed past. Wouldn't like it to push back on the car through my bonnet! Any help would be much appreciated. Matt.
  21. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> 'right click > set as desktop background' style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> Damn, I wanted a set of those. They are the 17" BBS LMs you can special order for the new minis, they are 4x100 and all that. Perfect wheel for the gti - it looks as good with a classy, well finished wheel as a non gti does with its sump dragging on the deck. Imho, of course. Matt.
  22. I am looking at Ibiza FRs at the moment. Go onto www.drivethedeal.com and you will be able to spec a brand new 1.8t one up a bit for less than 12k. Looks a wee bit barry, but the spec is good, can be quick if you want, can have xenons (which I love) and , most importantly, is still VAG. Stick some coils on it and it will handle OK as well. Delivery is 12 weeks if you select options other than metallic paint though style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> . Polo GTI is cool too but is the same car with less spec for 2k more. Would buy it if I had money to burn though. cheapest price I found for this is 13600ish. In white of course. quick edit to say diesel ibiza is 1k more, so fuel savings are neglegable if you do average miles. Petrol sounds better.
  23. 16000 ish. Registered dec 2003.
  24. That went well! Enjoyed meeting everyone. My Dad has the camera cable, so no pics from me till he is back style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />.
  25. If anyone wants to join a Glasgow convoy, there is one starting at the Glasgow Fort shopping centre on the M8, junction 10 eastbound. Glasgow fort It will take us about 1 hour 50 mins (say the AA), so if we meet at 10am we will be there in time. Here's a map of Morrisons at St. Andrews. Morrisons location Bring cameras! Money for food/hot cooking stuff! Lupo/Arouser! Sunblock (hopefully)!
