  1. Is it all OEM? That caris a bit like triggers broom iirc
  2. I'm selling my Sport this summer, my mum bought it new in 2000!
  3. You are probably lifting off mid corner and taking the weight (thus grip) off the rear tyres. Brake in a straight line, steady throttle through initial turn in and accelerate after the apex Put your best (if either of those ditch finders could be classed as 'best' ha) on the rear.
  4. Did you get your tenner off the £2000 one week 1.8T engine swap guy?
  5. But at least it actually came from the factory with that engine in it ha
  6. Have a read of this http://www.vx220.org.uk/forums/topic/102625-engine-oil/ Guy on there works in the industry. Much better information than Opie oils marketing team
  7. Indeed. It would be preferable to get something A3/B 4 rated though
  8. Yes you can. 0w-40 is the same thickness as a 10w40 when hot.
  9. When you broke down how did you get going again? Just let it cool down top it up with water and carry on? You say this happened a few weeks ago, what has happened since then? Have you done any more longer journeys? Have you had to add more water/coolant? I doubt it's anything to do with the rad fan - this should only come on when stationary and above a certain coolant temp anyway. As mentioned, when was your waterpump last changed? If it's broken then the water won't be circulating so the engine basically turns into a big kettle. Thermostat is also a good shout - if this is stuck shut the radiator is taken out of the loop so the coolant never cools down.
  10. I'm with Dblock here I must be getting old.
  11. I think its to do with system that filters the vapours from the petrol tank. There is pipe work from the petrol tank to a charcoal canister in the engine bay and then to the intake manifold, with a couple of valves to control it. The charcoal canister is a black thing just in front of the offside wheel arch IIRC. Look for a something electrical on this or on something coming from it. I have been awake for a very long time so the above may be total nonsense
  12. The top one is about 125bhp isn't it? If only they already made a Lupo that had 125bhp
  13. The pedal box itself and maybe a couple of clips etc I think. I pay someone else to work on my cars these days so I I'm not much help on the 'how' I'm afraid
  14. I'd have to set the car alight if that was mine, couldn't deal with that ha!
  15. It is cable The pedal box has snapped Its a cheap enough part but there is a fair bit of labour involved
  16. That looks brilliant. So often VAG cars are ruined (in my eyes anyway) but that looks fantastic
  17. Change the leads. My as well do the coil pack for good measure too
  18. That's very poor, I guess it was heavily modded? A colleague has one with a mild remap (260bhp) and averages around 24mpg
  19. Yeah that's a different relay so it will do that. I had an 03 (supercharged)Cooper S was excellent, rather thirsty though. 200+ bhp for a couple of hundred quid too. I'd have one over a GTI
  20. Yeah when stationary with the aircon on the rad fan should be on slowly IIRC I had a similar problem in my Cooper S, (that also had the PAS pump fan o the same system) and you tested it by seeing what fans were on when the aircon was on
  21. When the aircon is on it puts the fan on at a low speed, so maybe it's cutting out as the fan isn't coming on doe to the relay being broken
  22. What visc oil did you use? Mine was stiff a few times after long journeys, just before the gearbox imploded. Does it whine or anything?
  23. I did, I though it would send your filthy mind into overdrive so left it.
