The 3L is a better engineered car to be honest and was half the price new! The A2 is more comfortable on longer journeys though and does have A/C. RAB

'Bluemotion Fox could return 94mpg' With a heavier car, a less efficient engine/gearbox than a 3L and on ethanol? I don't think so! RAB
-
Mostly by boat though, I imagine Liwi? Impressive though all the same! I can get from East Sussex to Bordeaux with one tank. RAB

Just put cologne + vw into Google and you'll get at least 6 suppliers with phone numbers and a map! http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=na...p;q=koln+%2b+vw RAB

By the e-mail address, Russia, so LHD. RAB

There's a UK registered one for sale on A2OC.NET, or was. http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?t...ghlight=Lupo+3L RAB
-
The FSI was only sold in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and had an automated gearbox, like the 3L. It was, in effect, a 5L petrol-powered Lupo. RAB

Look for 1AC at the front of the Service Book. RAB

The Audi A2 1.2Tdi is different from the Lupo 3L in that the power steering is not all-electric but electro-hydraulic and stop-start does function. RAB

Denmark is in the EU. Surely you only pay VAT on a new car, not a second-hand car. If you were to import a second-hand car from Germany into the UK, you would and should pay no VAT. I know, I've done it. If you imported a second-hand car from Denmark to the UK, you should also pay no VAT. RAB
-
I bought one new from Holland in 2001 and as far as I know it was the first 3L 1.2Tdi (Audi or VW) in the UK. The other was imported from Germany in 2004 and AFAIK is the earliest (1999) Lupo 3L in the UK. We also have an A2 1.2Tdi which also came from Germany in 2007 and AFAIK is the earliest A2 1.2Tdi in the UK. In Denmark people say that they buy one car and pay for three! RAB
-
Is he in the UK? There are about 8 3L's in the UK and I own two of them! RAB
-
Must be a 3L! If you have your foot on the brake and the stick in the D position, the engine should stop in ECO mode four seconds after stopping unless the battery charge is too low or the ambient temperature is too low (<5 degC) or the A/C is on (in cooling mode, if you have A/C). The steering won't make any difference because if you have P/S it is all-electric on a 3L and if you are stationary it won't be in operation (presumably). RAB
-
Shouldn't that be 3L, GTi and FSi? I think you'll find that the 1.4Tdi had the 'standard' windscreen. The 3L, GTi and FSi all had the same lightweight body (thinner but stronger steel) and were only built at Wolfsburg. RAB
-
If you look carefully at the link, you will see that Koni FSD's are not available for the A2 1.2Tdi or the Lupo 3L, as they both have the same suspension! RAB
-
Initially the 3L had no power steering option, so the F option would have been introduced later. I presume that the power to the steering (power steering is all-electric, no hydraulics) is reduced the higher the gear, so just leaving the output to the power steering unconnected should be OK. But check with VW first. RAB

According to this page I found: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...2005-06,GGLD:en (Russian!) the C variant is for a car without power steering for an ANY engine, whereas the F variant is for a car with power steering for an ANY or AYZ engine. There are four other variants also! Best talk to VW about whether you can use the F variant. RAB

Immediately under the windscreen, on the driver's side, and behind the fire wall (bulkhead) - at least mine is except it is not on the driver's side as it a 3L! It's where the pollen filter is if you have one. Remove the plastic cover below the windscreen and there it is. The drainholes connect to the wheelarch. The drainholes are not obvious especially as the compartment will be full of leaves etc. I'll post a picture in the next few days if necessary. RAB
-
You are correct except that a 1.2TDI is a 3L TDI ! RAB
-
I'll bet the water is coming in via the filter and ventilation fan. There are drain holes nearby which get blocked with leaves etc. When it rains hard, the drain hole(s) cannot cope and the water overflows into the footwell. In light rain the drain holes cope and there is no flooding. RAB
-
I had this problem with one of our 3L's. The cause was a blocked drain hole over the front wheel arch which meant that water overflowed through the pollen filter onto the floor. RAB
-
Yes, Liwi is probably correct. The 3L does not need (working) glowplugs above about 5degC so you would not have noticed anything until the weather got colder. Does the engine turn over when it will not start? If not it could be the diode pack on the starter motor - you will have to change the starter motor if it is. RAB

According to Wikipedia, 'As of 2006, almost all of the petroleum-based diesel fuel available in Europe and North America is of a ULSD type.' Any differences in fuel consumption are more likely due to higher ambient temperatures and longer distances driven in France. RAB
