  1. Its not the worst but its pretty bad, like it how the cars been resprayed pink on the outside but the insides the original colour If your gonna get a complete colour change youve got to do it properly for it to look good, bet it looks odd when the doors are open fully so you can see the old colour against the new
  2. Ive also got to say that my 1.4s has been nothing but trouble, pedal box has been replaced (previous owner) Gearbox replaced (previous owner) But since ive had it the gearbox is playing up again, seems very notchy in the last couple of months, think its down to a low oil level as it has started to leak, my boot seazed up, passenger window stopped working, drivers side door lock has now broken, a terrible rattle from behind the drivers side doorcard (can't work out whats causing it) dash rattles. As soon as you fix one thing another thing breaks. My previous cars which were a Saxo VTR and a 106 quiksilver had no problems at all.
  3. Mine failed by a fair bit and was done to the throttle body.... If its all sorted now then i guess it doesnt really matter
  4. Ah brilliant, i have the doorcard off at the moment anyway but i was thinking its extremely tight to remove anything from inside the door. I have heard somewhere that these repair kits can also be purchased at VW? Don't know if thats true or not? So once the screws are undone i can physically remove the barrel? What parts are replaced with the repair kit? Thanks for the help, just want to make sure i do it right cos the last thing i want is to balls it up and end up getting a new barrel
  5. Didnt really wanna swap barrels, at the end of the day it will still be broken so i would rather fix it. The ebay ad says no need to remove the doorcard... how can the barrel be removed without taking the doorcard off though?
  6. Just seen some door lock repair kit on ebay, it says will fix locks which are stiff (which mine was) and will fix locks where the key just spins in the barrel which mine is doing now. How does this kit work and has anyone tried it? If it does what it says it does its exactly what i need as i wont need to get a new barrel and therefore i wont need 2 keys
  7. Well my drivers side door lock is buggered, Its always a bit stiff after its rained heavily. Anyhoo, i went to lock the drivers side door and the key was mega stiff to get out, i eventually got it out after a fair bit of force. I went back and the door wouldn't unlock and the barrel would just spin. Got the doorcard off today and managed to get the door open but the door wont lock unless i do it manually with the door pin. Would parts do i need to get? A new lock barrel?

    Lenso CPM

The lenso ones which are copies of RM's look fairly decent in real life, havent seen many others in the flesh though. Those look lovely, would change that centre cap but other than that they look niiioce
  10. Mine was last month, i changed my german plates over to UK ones and i can't be bothered with all the hassle so the UK ones are staying. Mine had to have 2 front tyres which i knew and asked them before MOT time so that was fine but it failed on emissions... There was a fault code apparently, they found that out after a diagnostics test, once they cleared that it was fine so no major issues
  11. Damn, too far away.... I would be interested in a remap when its all been developed etc. Keep us updated
  12. Cant blame him to be honest, these questions get asked daily so there will be plenty of answers if you used the search feature.
  13. I think im going to go for a budget set, i would love to buy some better quality ones but money is tight. I was looking at the ebay hottuning ones, PhilJ ones. Are there any others around?
  14. Thats a good technique however i didnt have a heatgun so a hairdryer done a good job, all you have to do is warm the glue up so its easy to slice through (dental floss for this) I had to put mine back on though as the previous owner must have had the rear quater resprayed and was a bad job as they sprayed over the strips leaving me the outline of the newer paint and the oldish faded paint where the strip was. Look out for that, and where the paints faded underneath the strip, other than that it should look nice when its done

    Wheels...

I guess not, i don't have an ebay account though or paypal so ide have to set that up first, i wouldn't know about how to get them over here or anything though thats the thing, plus i speak very little german so it might be hard to communicate.
  17. I agree, obviously it does all depend on the damage but that is a very good buy for someone

    Wheels...

I don't think ide be comfortable buying from german ebay though... Unless someone else gets me a set and ill pay £50* for the hassle * depends on price of the wheels

    Wheels...

I know theres always questions about wheels on here so ill keep this a simple one. Im getting bored of my ATS cups so im looking for some different wheels, i always check edition38 as theres always different wheels going up for sale as im undecided what i want. I would love some Tramont splits but does anyone know where i can get some? Ive had a look on the Tramont site (its french) and it seems a bit long winded to get hold of some, plus there not cheap! Anyone know if theres a UK distributer? I check daily to see if theres any 2nd hand ones for sale but it seems that there quite rare so if anyone knows of any being sold please let me know
  22. Headlights? Ide do the inserts black, looks much better and is on track with your Black and Orange theme Interior? Wheels? Black wheels with an orange centre cap could like niiiice Ide also go for an orange petrol cap, actually, get a photoshop done on that as it might look a bit odd
  23. Ide say either some different front seats or a momo 280mm steering wheel
  24. As other people have said ide definatly get a lambs wool washmitt, its far better than a sponge and wont inflict swirls into the paintwork Ide wash it using the two bucket method, one bucket with clean water, the other with soapy water with your desired shampoo (i used auto glym stuff, works well i think) Then you just wash a panel, rinse in the clean water bucket to get rid of any loose dirt left on the mitt and repeat this process for the whole car. I then dry the car using a microfibre towel which is also kinder to the paintwork. If i was going for a good wash ide then polish the car using Autoglym super resin polish (fantastic product) and then finally use a wax/sealent, theres alot of different products around though. Two bits of kit you should pick up though are a lambs wool washmitt (i got a meguairs one, they have it in halfords) and a microfibre towel for drying. Oh and if your polishing ide also pick up some microfibre polishing cloths, nice a soft and perfect for polishing
  25. Not sure about the fuel situation but my boot started playing up a few months ago. When i unlocked the car everything unlocked, except the boot, i tried yanking on it as hard as i could as i was told it could be down to suction, it wouldnt budge so i climbed in the back (seats down obiously) undone the plastic trim which covers the lock mechanism for the boot, it turned out to be a bit stiff so a little bit of oil and working the oil in done the trick, its been fine since then Could just be a bit stiff, ide suggest having a look, you can manually pop the boot open when the trims off
