When you say it wont start, can you hear the starter motor chugging round trying to get it started? Or does it just do nothing when you try and start it? Could be the ignition switch that has gone? Could you hear any strange grinding noises recently when you have been driving? Ignition switch might of burned the starter motor out.

I went through this process last year, I went with their recommendation and chose some Silkolene Pro S 5W-40 Fully Synth, the loop runs really nicely on it. I would highly recommend using this oil.

I can highly recommend Silkolene Pro S 5W-40 fully synthetic oil once your car has hit 20,000 and you have a regular service interval. The silkolene stuff is pretty much the best oil you can get.... well worth the money. I can get it for £35 for 5 Litres from the Civic Type R forums.

Mmm toughie but here goes, with a 20k budget I would have the following 1) Mini Cooper S Works 2) Honda Civic Type R 3) Golf R32

This was the exact same problem with my girlfriends lupo gti, it would hesitate when accelerating. It has been back to the garage several times and seems to be sorted after they updated the engine management software, replaced a temperature sensor and a couple of other minor things. The problems did reappear in between these stages but as of now it seems to be sorted...

Dodgy - It was obviously to cheap for the spec I suppose... I can't believe he is advertising it with a full service history! If the engine was good and the rest of the paintwork was fine it would still be worth buying and get the dodgy workmanship redone.

Loops seem to be going for dirt cheap at the moment. Autotrader has a load of 01 plates ranging from `6500-7500`. The nicest one on there is a silver 02 plate, black leath, AC, 12000miles on the clock selling for 7k!!

All I can say is don't even think about buying a Renault unless you want to be stuck with a heap of corroding junk. I had touble from the start with mine and I know of several other people who have experienced the same. To name but a few, the cracked up spark plugs after two months of purchasing it, the panic you encounter when you drive onto a roundabout only to realise that your engine has just died and there's an articulated lorry fast approaching your back end. Oh, and not forgetting the appauling customer service. Take the car in to be fixed, not forgetting you've got three years warranty and fee AA cover (I wonder why), and they won't even move your car from the place you parked it in. They'll tell you they've reset your ignition computer. Give it two days, you'll be back in. Anyway, why the hell are you getting rid of an amazing car only to buy second rate crap. Don't, just don't. I promise you'll regret it!

Does it feel a lot faster than the lupo gti?

It gets used for general town driving as well, going to the gym, going seeing friends etc etc. It doesn't get blasted from cold it's a really well looked after car... I'll try some of that nitrix power blast stuff out. Cheers.

The car is booked in *again* so hopefully they will be able to come up with something this time... If only they would give out Golf R32's as courtesy cars! hah.

Hi peeps, I'm having a bit of trouble with the lupo gti engine at the moment, it's been going on for quite a while now and been into the vw garage 3 or 4 times. Basically the problem occurs when your at low revs and or changing up a gear, there seems to be a flat spot in the engine almost as if it's not recieving any fuel for a split second. I get a slight lag in the engine and then it will pull away ok. Everytime it's been into the garage the problem seems to be resolved for a certain period of time and then it will `re-occur`. One time they replaced the temperature sensor and one time they said that they taped up a load of cabling and made it more secure near the accelerator or something. The last time it went in the problem went away for about one or two weeks and they updated the computer management software to the latest version (which seems to have increased fuel economy by about `15-20` miles per tank!). Anyway the problem has now returned and occasionally now get multiple flat spots during acceleration! Anyone had similar problems or know why this is happening..? Hi all, My missus has a lupo gti and is a very conservative driver, no breaking the speed limits at all etc. She gets about `185-200` miles per tank. 90% of her driving is around town 10% is motorway. She uses BP ultimate fuel only, how much do you peeps get in the gti? Thanks.

Seems thats all I do? Huh!?! I've only ever posted a couple of times, the first one I gave someone a complement on how nice his car looked and had a joke with him about him racing my 1 litre micra. My second post was responding to your pictures. All I was doing was telling the truth, last time I checked it's a free country and I free to say what I like. I have been a member of the forum for quite a while but dont usually post because I just like to read other people's stories etc, the reason I posted because I thought your car was one of the funniest sights I had seen on a forum. I freely admit that I drive about in a tin can crappy micra. Words escape me as to why you would do such things to a metro.... oh dear.

Yes your probably right, im only having a laugh mate. My micra is a piece of poop. It's the fastest 1 litre i've ever driven thogh. 16v Twin cam engine. My missus has a 6spd black loop gti and I love it to bits. One day I will buy one style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />.

OK so I hate french cars, they are *****. But I dont think you could drop a saxo vts like that. The `0-60` time for the lupo is 8.3 seconds and the `0-60` time for the saxo vts is 7.1. The saxo is a faster car than the lupo.... me thinks you beat a vtr or something.
