The r8 tdi is not made for economy aparantly, its made for a different driving experience. modern turbo diesels drive in a different way to petrol cars and some people prefer the driving style of a modern diesel. I too would rather save my 20k and get a petrol r8, but that dosent mean diesel cars are better than petrol cars, they are just different, and both as good as each other IMO

cant compare them cars to a 1.9 tdi golf bus, drive the r8 tdi when it comes out and them come back with that arguement. Its the only car that would be able to compare really. Maby a 535 with a map can compare to some of the cars you talk about power wise.

I never understand the powerband arguement, mabey its because iv only had 2 similar petrols and only one tdi(the arosa) but the powerband on the petrols were much smaller than in the diesel! They used to have no power tull 4-6k and the diesel has power from 2-4 but it takes longer to rev thru the powerband in the diesel so im never sure where this powerband thing comes from :s

It makes me sick how one person gets a 40 odd day ban and others get worse for doing 100 at midnight, and how some people get away with speeding and others dont, I hate it how they pick and chose in stupid ways how to punish, i understand that somone doing 40 in a 30 at 3am dosent deserve to be in any real toruble but its when cases are exactly the same and one person is better off than the other, i just think its really unfair. I know theres no real solution to such issues because you cant have everyone speeding getting a the same exact ban or whatever, but I would just be really annoyed if i did 124 down the same mway at the same time (I wouldent) and got caught and got a longer ban, then saw this on TV. Just had to have a moan! Police have always been fair with me anyways, just dont like it when some get it easy and some dont!

im guessing it is! you could as the prevous owner, or drive a standard tdi, or check the map! Dont know how else really! Should be about as quick as a saxo vtr from rolling if its been remapped. Its hard to tell really!

My ignetion barel packed in, but thats because i got a dogey key cut, anyway it cost 160 quid to get replaced but the biger problem is that it took about 2 weeks and It was horrible not having the car for that long! Good luck mate!

Spotted it this morning near fenham hall drive when i was walking to uni, looked pretty good. It looked tiny tho, much smaller than i thaught thed look on the road. Would love to drive one in america!
