  1. So, I go to crack the Lupo out for the summer. Much later than normal this year because I've been so busy. So busy, in fact, that I haven't checked on it in the last few months. Stone. Cold. Dead. Trickle charger showing an error code. Battery not even given a continuity reading, let alone a voltage one. That will teach me for not checking every couple of weeks like I did last winter. I guess you can be just *too* busy at work. Time for the RAC. I'll leave it until after the bank holiday weekend, I think. And the worst thing? It's an RAC battery that's in it, which I'm sure is less than year old and would be covered, but I can't find the receipt...
  2. Something added and something taken away = throttle bodies?

    Cream GTI

This afternoon, I followed a very low *cream* GTI with a single exit oval exhaust all way down the hill into Collinton (don'tchaknow) and back up the hill on the other side before he did a cheeky u-turn across the box junction where the Ferrari showroom used to be and headed off up Woodhall Road into the *really* expensive houses... Anyone on here? I was in the VRS a few cars back. I think I've seen photos of the car, but I thought it was Glasgow based rather than Edinburgh...
  4. There's a German Lupo GTI ad, which I saw *years* ago and have never been able to find - does anyone know about it. Basically, it's a late twenties / early thirties couple arguing in their red Lupo GTi in city centre scene. Lots of shots of the GTI nipping in and out of city centre traffic. Was really good, but I just can't find it again...
  5. I get really disheartened when I look at the rest of this thread and think about this generation missing out on *artists* like this: It's Sam Brown, in the pouring rain, on a railway siding and *bringing the show home* She's loving it - pure showmanship! :shades: :shades:
  6. Here's mine (this is as close as I can get to it...):
  7. I knew her before she was hyped. Actually I didn't because she seems to have appeared out of nowhere like all the heavily-promoted. Viz.: anyone noticed the sudden re-emergence of Kate Nash all over the BBC's playlists this weekend? Anyway, I'll say one thing for the Goulding's album - it does help you work fast. I've been listening to it this evening and it is keeping the thought processes going, because I can ignore the "music" and just follow the beat... For the hour of so I turned it off, I produced *nothing*
  8. i posted that on this thread way back on 26 jan!! you guys need to keep up! shame the album is *awful* though. well, all apart from the last track...
  9. I haven't posted in here for ages, but this: is fantastic. So very nsfw, but achingly funny. Listen to the lyrics!
  10. I've said it before about that Polo, but I'll say it again - it's nigh-on perfect!
  11. Btw, for those questioning the DSG, I fully agree. But what about the lifespan of the turbo and the supercharger? I wouldn't welcome one of these second-hand round about the 70k mark...
  12. I actually think it's better looking than the Golf. But these new Polos are *not* selling. I've only seen two so far. They are basically the same size as the Golf. Way wider, certainly, than any "city car" should be. If I was in the market for a Golf, I would take one of these instead and save a few grand while not really missing out on anything. Even the interior is pretty much the same as the Golf.
  13. Spotted the xenons in the the rear view mirror as I did my usual *hard* acceleration out of the roadworks at junction 3 (because the VRS is all about that kind of shove), only for this GTI to catch up and pass me. Followed it all the way to Junction 4, where it turned off. Saw it a month or so ago, but never caught the registration plate. Someone from Bathgate, perhaps?
  14. Having waited for months (see my posts in the Apple thread), I just don't see the point. No multitasking and the inelegant keyboard solution just make it an oversized iTouch. Absolutely no innovation. I'll not bother with it... I'll wait for Microsoft Courier instead.
  15. ok. so the song isn't that great, but what a video!!
  16. In this era of artists and bands that pass fleetingly, spare a thought for Kate McGarrigle, who died yesterday. Google her if you want to understand the heritage, but close your eyes when listening to the vocals and phrasing of this and it should be obvious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9s54CaK2wY

    Lupo Tube

NSFW (just swearing) but so, so funny:
  18. Look like those twitter links above were just spam - sucked me in, though. This is the one that made me think - yeah, maybe not: iSlate just told a really funny joke. It understands human humor. — Matt Handal (@matthandal) January 8, 2010

    SNOW

The main worry is the pipes freezing because - in this fantastic new build house - only the bits you can see are insulated! I wish I'd spotted that when the builder was still around...

    SNOW

£310 for the boiler manufacturer to come and look at it and that only covers the boiler, not the programmer or any of the other ancillaries VRS insurance was paid yesterday = £400 GTI insurance to be paid in the next two weeks = another few hundred. And to top it all, it's fecking snowing and fecking cold.
