  1. ahhh right thats you're the second person to say that so I'm guessing that's what it'll be! It didn't make the noise today though? ...bit weird, my baby's being very temperamental at the moment
  2. soooooooooooooooooooo nice   GLWS man these are gorgeous, wish I could afford them right now
  3. £20 delivered for the lights? Are they all reds (not the old ones with the orange bottom half) and ready to plug and play bar the bulbs? Cheers. Max
  4. After some hub-centric spacers, need to; -measure 135mm or less in diameter -be 20, 25 or 30mm (in pairs or a set of 4) -have no cracks or structural damage -be VW (57.1) centerbore on both sides -have bolts included Thanks, Max
  5. Mine did the exact same thing after fitting coils but randomly stopped doing it one day and hasn't since, and I hadn't tried to fix it at the time hahah
  6. Well with her clutch and gearbox replaced and service booked in next week I'm looking forward to the possibility of having some money to spend on thing I want for a change Not really done much to her in a while, just sorting out little niggles -Cleaned and polished -fixed leak on glass de-wiper -straightened and touched up nackered sills -took off the tiny badge and put my oem one back on but painted it because it was tatty, painted it black on reflex silver -repainted my rear view satin black because i somehow scratched it -probs some other things too but can't think off top of my head -EDIT - took all stickers off too When I finally get some money in plans are; - New tyres - Refurb wheels something a bit different - Rolled arches - MOAR LOWS Hate having 0 funds.
  7. doubt that as its just been replaced last week really?? cant see that being related to gear changes/acceleration its only like when i change out of gear and then for a couple of seconds reving up
  8. My loops developed as a strange problem where it whistles when changing gear and during acceleration, sort of like air has been built up and then released, sort of like the pressure dropping from something I don't know :S No idea what it could be, its coming from the engine bay but cant work out where Just tried to look for it with bonnet open and revving in neutral but it sounds like something blowing at idle, but whilsting whilst driving, tried a google search but theyre all related to turbos and mine obviously doesn't have one Any ideas? Car idle was already relatively rough, though idles at 1k and doesn't hunt or lose power at all, just sounds a little rough Car is being serviced next thurs/fri because I'm fed up of the niggles I'm having with it, just want to have a rough idea of what it could be to pass on to my mechanic and possibly save him time Cheers Max
  9. I've been running 195/45/14 on an 8J at 35psi for the past year with no problems? maybe put them up to 40 for this summer
  10. cable tie/jubilee clip/both the spring to the mount so it doesnt fall out? or dont go fast?
  11. Its a proper bitch, some peoples literally just pop out, but mine was really hard to get out, so was my friends, I cant even remember what I did in the end, probably just yanked it in rage mode
  12. How much is the postage on them mate? about a fiver? If they're ready to plug and play (all working bulbs and wiring) How's £25 posted sound? Cheers
  13. haah I'm no expert electrician but if I was doing it I think id disconnect
  14. I'm not 100% but its probably best to just disconnect the battery anyway if you need to ground something, it only takes few seconds to disconnect after all
  15. hardest part is getting out the original double tin stereo, mine was properly stuck in there, even with the proper vw keys it took a bit of pulling and shaking to get it out, once you've got it out it'll be fairly self explanatory Don't think you need to disconnect the batt unless you need to make a ground for something, just have the electrics turned off i.e. key out of the car
  16. Can I steal your seats?
  17. how much for the rear lights? are they all reds? and whats condition like? also where are you based? Cheers Max
  18. I think it can only be picked up on at an MOT if the wiper motor is still on the car but doesnt have a wiper arm, but it wouldn't be if you were de-wipering it anyway not a clue about legalities but never heard of anyone getting in trouble for it...
  19. cheers pal ill take a look tomorrow! any idea where abouts or just generally on the front?
  20. Right well as my car is increasingly becoming a problem child I've got another quick one. Definitely fuel related; when the tank gets to the bottom 1/4 1/5 full the car can randomly just lose power and the engine light comes on, im guessing this is from crap in the tank being sucked in somewhere it should be? because every time I fill up the problem will disappear until it next gets low again, and sometimes it doesn't do it at all even when it gets really empty. If I turn the engine off, leave it for a minute and turn it back on, no problem even with light still on? the engine light will even turn itself off after a while as well Is this just a case of getting the fuel injectors cleaned out? (its nothing electrical - sparks/ht leads/coil pack) Anything throttle body related? waiting on throttle body cleaner in the post because frauds don't stock it. and finally another one, the company that fixed my gearbox (all working sweet as nut now if anyone was interested ) hasn't connected my reverse lights up to the box or whatever it should be connected to (i.e. no reverse lights when the car is in reverse) Tried ringing today but don't think they're open on sundays, but is it just a case of a plug needing to go in somewhere? (something i can do myself) or should i just take it to them? Thanks as ever, Max
  21. still got the rear lights? if you do how much posted to halifax postcode HX2? or if youre not too far I can pick up? Cheers, Max
  22. spotted going through halifax town center at about 1.00pm, looked standard with tinted windows, first GTI ive ever seen in real life and it was quite nice actually, they look nicer in real life than in pictures
  23. My fuel consumption is about on par with my mates 1.0SE (I drive a 1.4S, both our cars are 2002) and we have a very similar driving style so its probably the best non data specific comparison I can offer So if you're going to be carrying loads of stuff about you're probably better off with the extra power from the 1.4
  24. I had a recon box fitted on thursday, £420 all in with 2 year / 24k mile warranty at a local place, good turn around Cant advise on pedal box price though as I've not had it done
