Hey to all!

I will soon buy myself a 1.4TDi Lupo and right now i'm looking for some mods that i would like to have on my "beast". Till now this web page has been very useful for my ideas, and i am very gratefull for that.

The thing that i would like also to have on my car would be a Disk&Pads brake system that would replace the standard cylinder one.

Did anyone do this? Do you know some producers or some prices that can go with my idea? smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Thanks. can't wait 2 hear from you!!!

If you wanted discs on the back instead if the drums the best way and generaly most cost effective way is to fit a 16v Sport or GTi rear beam but its questionble whether you would gain much braking force by upgrading the rears before the fronts

With having TDi which i think will have the removeble front caliper carriers you can go for the 280mm disc upgrade which you will find many threads on here detailing on the how to etc

smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> the thing is that i would like to fit in the summer a 1.9 TDi engine on this and one of the most important things for this upgrade is also the braking system. i heard that i don't really have to change the whole rear beam of the car, but just the braking system. it was done on a polo in here (Romania) from what i heard. I will have to do some research.

it's obvious that i will change the front brake disks also and 100% also the calipers.

thanks for the advice

To fit discs to the rear of a TDI, you will need to replace the entire rear beam.

Are you 100% shure about this? smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ... if i would have to do that, can you tell me the costs of that? or recommend some products?

I fitted uprated tarox g88 discs upfront in my tdi which were a massive improvement over the standards.

I know about them, i heard they are very nice smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ... do you still have drums in the back?!

I would like to put on the care some nice 16'' alloys ... and i would like "her" to look smooth biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Right, I've looked into it, and it is possible to change from drums to discs without swapping the entire beam...

However its more economical to get a full beam, and either fit it in one go, or swap all the bits over one at a time.

To fit rear discs you will need...

Hoses, Brake Cable, Calipers, Carriers, Pads, Discs, Wheelbearing/Hub kits, Left and right Stub Axels, the caliper mounting plate, and the random peice of tin that sits beihind the disc.

exactly what i was saying or do as i was going to and buy a crash bent rear beam and do as Al saids and swap all the bits onto your straight rear beam cool.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> as long as all the hubs etc are good

If you are thinking of 16's though i would say and im sure NFBR would agree that the front 280mm setup would be a good starting point

I heard Tarox G88 are quite good ... and they look "SWEET" also taroxg88disc.jpg border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" />

i still don't know what i will do with the back ...

tomorrow i will go to buy this 1.4 tdi Lupo ... 90.000 km ... from 2002. 6000 euros (i will give him 5600 wink.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> )

wish me luck in my new project biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Whether this is down to the gti having rear discs or abs i'm not sure.

id say alot down to the ABS as you can just stand on them without fear of sliding whereas in a TDi without ABS you probably wouldnt press as hard huh.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

You don't need to change the whole rear beam - it's the same item for all models. To convert to disc brakes, you only need to change the stub axles and hub assembly, which bolts onto the beam with 4 bolts.

Rear brake bias is usually 30-35% of the overall braking capability, though some abs programs shift the bias depending on vehicle load. smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Are you sure your going to need this extra braking at the rear???

Im aware your fitting this bigger engine...But unless your going to be going on track in it then i dont see the point in all honesty, and even then, its still probably not worth it is it? confused.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" />

@GTi T ... i don't really know !! this is what another friend of mine said also ... if it's worth it or not ... but in this small mo*fo* with brake disks on the back it`ll sure feel safer biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> and it will sure look better on nice alloys biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Theres no harm pricing it up and then making your decision.......

The money could be spent elsewhere....bigger turbo,front mount intercooler etc shades.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" />

Have you heard of Allard mate?????

yeah i heard. i have some friends in here who will buy some big turbokits for MK5 TDI ... they are the best in business biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> at least from uK! ...

i know about this biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> but on bigger engine (for example 1.9tdi) it would be better all the kits they have there biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

this is why i would like the brake disks on the back also biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
