Defcon5
cheers mate. I'm going to gamble it and get a vag-com 704.1 cable myself. Works out cheaper than running to VW every time. You can make your money back by charging other people a tenner a time.Post up what cable and software you get, Im thinking of getting one myself

kapur
Quick update:-Took the car to a VW specialist here (up north) today. Got the car put on ODBII, and it came up with a slight drop in the oil pressure. However, got an oil pressure test done, and it shows about 1psi @ idle, and about 3.5psi @ 3200k RPM.Was told that the pressure levels do sound ok. (But the guy wasn't so sure about the pressure @ Idle)Some of you may remember myself having to replace the oil pressure switch. Had great difficulty with that, since the oil pressure switch that i got from VW (according to the engine number) was the right one, BUT, the thread was way too small. Hence, i resorted to getting it done by my local mechanic, who had found the right size of oil pressure switch. However, the bloke today said that the oil pressure switch fitted is from a Vauxhal, and that some switches have a positive as primary, rather than negative.Am i right to believe that the engine block on my lupo is a negative ground? If i secure the switch to the engine block, the oil light should stop coming on. Just need to test this, so would be great if someone could confirm this.So far have had the following done:1. Oil Flush + Change (Mobil 1 Semi Syn.)2. Oil Filter Replaced3. Oil Pressure Switch changed (with vauxhal 1).I'm running around in circles and am getting quite frustrated. I definately don't want to permanently disable the oil light + buzzer. It's their for a reason (to protect the engine from further damage), so i really do need this solved.Any PROPER Mechanics/technicians around who aren't cowboys and will be reasonable with what they charge? cardaft
So have you now had the correct oil level switch fitted? Our caravelles switch went, kept on putting the oil light on at random, the oil level was fine, we had the switch replaced and its been fine ever since. Although i carnt believe you didnt check your oil level as soon as you got the car, if not while looking to buy it!
kapur
Unfortunately the original VW pressure switch doesn't fit AT ALL. It's why I've currently got the vauxhal one in their. Everything is so messed. :-(
