Defcon5
Either you drive like a complete numpty or something is broken.Checked the brakes aren't binding and the tyre pressures are correct first off.Does your temp gauge work properlyDoes the car have any mods? Silver!
My 1.0 Arosa was doing bad on fuel at one point and it turned out to be the Lambda probe, but then it misfired on start, stank of fuel and the engine management light was on too. Jonvdub
Oh sorry brakes are on there last legs but I don't think there binding there next on the list
RyanMabey
If its temperamental then it could be your water coolant sensor ( not saying this is the reason for bad fuel economy) mine can be temperamental but when I had my engine codes read one came back as faulty coolant sensor
Defcon5
Your coolant temp sensor is knackered, so it's pouring fuel in like there is no tomorrow. This is very likely to be your issue.

Dblock
What reg out of curiosity?51 like it says under the guys name... Also mate a cheap obd2 reader is worth it. £15-£20 could potentially point you in the right direction or even save you the garage fee of diagnostics. Jonvdub
My friend owns an runs he's own garge so he plugs it in for me when I need him to I will swap out the temp sensor next week . I was under the impression that the fuel was measured of the lamba sensor not the temp sensor ? Obviously when cold its the temp sensor I did have a similar problem with my polo but that has 2 water temp sensor one for cold temp then other for the gauge and then when it's warm it runs of the lamba sensor that's why I ruled the dogey temp sensor Thanks for the help guys ill get a sensor orderd
RyanMabey
Yeah get him swapped see if that helps, if my petrol light is on and I park on a hill with the engine warm my car refuses to start for some reason. I hope when I change my sensor later that will sort it
