Has anyone on here fitted more sporty cams in their 100bhp 1.4s?

Its the 100hp engine Tim.

What size were the cams Andy fitted to his sport?

I know he said there was no noticable gains, but then hes running a stanard ECU.

Yeah I would say 280 is pretty extreme - a friend used to have a Golf MKII with 280 cams in and it used to sound like a tractor - set the idle to 2000 rpm otherwise it would stall.

244 sounds way too mild. i would go group N - but even then I am guessing you would have idle issues.

truth is your never going to get maximum power and driveability from a set of cams, anything over a 260 profile in a 1.4 would give idling issues so its not really worth it unless your willing to put up wi lumpy idling!

the lupo i was gona buy had 256 cams in it and was a sport!

Thats right Sheldon.

the 256 cams Andy fitted vertually changed nothing, no noticable power increase.

Thats why I say 280.

260 wouldnt be enough.

At the end of the day its gonna be a comprimise.

If your wanting power then you need to expect some sort of problems, and unfortunatly the way the Loop engine is, your not gonna get much benifits without going lumpy as ****.
