Aerial Booster or Not

Recommended Posts

I have a VW MFD fitted, but can't get any radio reception. I had an alpine before and also got poor radio reception and was using a halfords aerial booster.

I'm not using the booster now because I thought it wouldn't need it.

Anyone else with a MFD fitted, what's your reception like and are you using a booster?

The standard aftermarket aerial booster usually puts a 12v on the aerial, but I'm almost certain OEM VW items don't need one at all.

Is there possibly a break in your wire leading up to the antenna? Is it FM not working or AM?

Well an aerial booster makes little to no difference to FM. it's for AM radio. Sounds like something else is wrong to me.

I had really bad radio reception on my aftermarket radio/CD in my Arosa, replaced aerial and wiring with genuine parts - no real improvement. Bought one of these off ebay - 320941544152 - brilliant reception. Fitted to nearside of front screen and routed down A pillar and over glove box - 15 minute job - 7 torx screws and a bit of applied pressure with a screw driver - well worth £2.78 and a 2 week wait!
