But as you say, this thread has got off topic, you wanted to know how to check oil pressure, I'm assuming in your wealth of knowledge in the engineering sector you've never had to do such things.....

Google it.

so I guess your wage is astronomical/not really and Google doesn't own a lupo so why ask Google considering every one on hear owns or has owned a lupo isn't this the best place to ask for help or have I got this mistaken. and the other people have made a oil light topic fixed it and not put how hence my post. too hard to understand ??

I do ok, but your posts are fairly hard to decipher. What I would say is get someone to check it for you, as you obviously don't have the kit for it, as I originally suggested I suspect a pump issue, but the cheapest thing to try next yourself is sump off and check your pick up pipe, is that too difficult for you to grasp?? As its already been suggested several times, yet you'd rather come on here and act the clown instead of going out and whipping your sump off and finding out for yourself.

Mods, I suggest one of you clean this thread up a bit, it's getting a little embarrassing.

I worked on the trucks, service 24, pretty sure it's illegal to run the star system unless you pay the license fee tho.

Pretty sure star itself is pretty useless as a proper running system without the multiplexer, you can use it to run simulations tho. I was always on TIPS tho. Are you a trainee dblock?

The multiplexer the little box that the cables plug into? I do have that.

I didn't nick it or anything. Bought it as merc here are useless and the other "specialist" uses autologic?

I fix the cars myself and having STAR would save me time and money e.g. The main one I work on is a w211 and I'm sure its easier to bleed the brakes with star because of the SBC pump? The owner used to have a W220 and when that started to go wrong star would have been handy to have and I'm sure. Also work on a W203 now and then.

Just a guy who works on cars but is always being asked to do more and more stuff!

I'd love to go back to merc, bmws are a nightmare.

I only really have experiance of the m57d30 engine in bmw but its so bloody fiddly. I drop oil to do an oil change IMO its better for many reasons rather than sucking it up. Anyway to even get off the bloody engine cover takes me about 30mins! The bolts seems small and fiddly. They also use those E reverse torx. The mercs in comparison seem less fiddly, bigger bolts etc and just engineered better in the sense that they are easier to work on.

Same for you or other reasons?

**** of Scott your opinion doesn't matter and so what if I buy a bmw I'll still be a lupo owner since out of 9 cars I've had 5 have been lupos there 1.0e a 1.7sdi and the current one 1.4 16v I'll most likely have another or keep the one I've got now as a little run around but that's all depending on the oil pressure problem I just hope it's the pick up pipe.

and by the sounds of this it's changed to mb technical team forum btw do any of you own a mb or just work for them ??

And what difference would that make? Considering the other guys said they worked on trucks, vans etc? Now unless they are driving an actros as their daily what do you think?

The 651 engine is a good engine really, apart from the throttle valve issue, they use the same engine in the car range obviously and the crossfire uses it too, and it's much easier to work on, the issue with the vans is as the drive gears are at the rear for safety reasons, and vans are made to increase space inside the cab, the rear of the engine us tucked right into the bulkhead, the cars don't have the same design and it's a completely different engine to work with. Don't get me started on the 642 tho!!

yeah the throttle valve issure and forever doing injectors. remember when the engine 1st come out it had oil pressure problems and ended up putting the con rod out the side of the block don`t know if that was a issue for the cars as well ?

ha ha yeah the 642 engine :(
