parna86arosa
Tried to change my gearbox oil a couple of weeks ago but was unable to loosen the fill and drain plugs from the box anyone got any tips ? Or should I just take it to get done professionally? Anyone know the price of a gearbox oil change from seat or vw.? Thanks
truCido
I take it you've got the proper drain plug removal bit? It's just like undoing a bolt / nut tbh. It'll be a bit seized but it should go
Dblock
17mm hex key. G060 726 a2 gear box oil. Undo the full plug first so you don't have problems. Fill until it comes out of the fill plug.
Grazza
i used a breakerbar (a long one) with the socket on, mine was on very tight (almost couldn't get it undone) but finally budged after about 10 mins of tugging and a few carefully chosen words. hope this helps

manilasuperstar
Can anyone post a picture of refill plug location on a gti gearbox?can find it,thanks in advance,
Dblock
Yeah I got a sump key which fits but just cant get enough leverage to crack it lolAlways try to spray some PROPER penetrating fluid e.g. not wd40 something like pb blaster or ferrosol. You can smack the wrench with a hammer to give it an impact like shock which can break the nut.
parna86arosa
I will try again at the weekend lol thanks for the help guys :-)
Rickpercy87
I had problems removing mine. I applied wd40 every day. I had more luck using a 17mm bolt and a spanner than I did with a proper hex key. I guess I wasn't afraid to smash the spanner with a hammer to loosen it.
