The definitive Gearbox thread
Grazza replied to VWR Lupo's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
sorry to drag this up again, can anyone recommend a company that you have used in the past to rebuild the gti 6 speed box that charges a reasonable price. I am based in Grimsby (DN36) so the closer the better but i dont mind travelling a little if i have too. -
Do you still have the full front end (minus the wings) for sale? if so how much?
-

Lupo GTI Toe Eye Covers (As new - pair) £10 [SOLD]
Grazza replied to Lupo675's topic in Parts For Sale
still for sale? i need one, will take if they are for sale -
get them, you might need 5-10mm spacers depending how low (if at all) you are. i've got 15" x 7" and et43 and i need to put some 5mm spacers as i'm running 1 degree of camber.
-
i know the selector seals and drive shaft cup seals are prone to going on them, you could get a rebuild kit and have a play yourself?
-
im guessing gearbox? have you got any more pictures?
-
here's pretty much what it looks like now, couple of changes (no stickers and i've got a yellow bumper as i've just done the centre exit conversion). Yes it's pretty much the same car as before, what can i say, i like the Red. I've got a GTI interior, custom headlining and a MOMO steering wheel now.

Here is how she stands at the moment (i've now got a yellow bumper due to doing a centre exit conversion)

I know you have to change the wiring to put the arosa lights in a lupo, not sure if it's the same for the mk1 arosa (as they share the same style lights as a lupo) Here's the link: it might do the trick, im not sure, you could always test with a multi-meter first to double check
-
Pretty much summed it up in 1 haha, with wrapping your exhaust manifold / downpipe, you are more likely crack the welds due to the increase in temperature.
-
do an oil change and make sure it isn't going in the sump, how much are you topping up and how frequently? (how many miles between top up)
-
just the box as per the pictures, you can get universal 90 degree bends on ebay fairly cheap and the same for the neoprene cold air ducting. thanks
-
Still need one?
-
on the other hand, if your looking for an enclosed air filter you can put a cold air feed too i have a BMC CDA ACCDA 70-130 up for sale
-
i wouldn't bother on a 1L as you would lose some of already little power the engine produces, cold air intakes are good when they have been mapped in (so the engine can adjust the air/fuel ratio for a stochiometric condition. for the breather, yes i agree with a catch can, you will need to keep an eye on it though as the moisure can fill it up quicker than you expect, you can get panel filters which ould work well in the original airbox, you could drill the airbox too which allows more air to enter the engine.
