sharktech
Aftnoon AllI've just bought myself a Black 1.4 TDI Sport but it only came with one key, can you buy blanks and program them to the car yourself? Thanks in Advance
Nathan94
When I bought the car it was sold with 1 key, got a quote for a coded one for over £100 and a week later I found the spare with the logbook But I don't believe you can code it yourself, needs to be done by VW or a shop with the right stuff. aaron.hoppy
Same thing here, the cars have an immobiliser as standard and the keys are chipped. I took it to a key cutters and the chip was super encrypted (means no one can access it) Called Seat and they wanted £117.00 for it. There is a database with all the keys and codes on that Seat and VW use to cut and chip a new key so they don't have to use the original. So no I'm afraid £117.00 is the only option so you may as well just hope you don't loose it. Or get Key cover from your insurers. Hope that helps,
Skezza
I thought VAG-Tacho could re-programme? Anyway, yeah, I'd say get Key Cover from your insurer. You could get a non-chipped copy, so that you can at least gain entry to the car, then if you ever do lose the immobilizer key, you can still shift the car using a tow or whatever.
