Afternoon all, I fitted a new fuel pump thinking my cutting out issue was that (was the cam sensor) but now the fuel guage isn't registering properly. it started never going above 3qtrs even though it was full and now with £25 in the tank its showing empty lol (light on) To replace, i took the cover off, hoses and plug fitted in the new pump and reversed. It works fine i.e pumping the fuel etc, Is there something i could have missed? Thanks

Went and turned the key and no prime but started first time musnt have been long enough between. i know it does it every morning though.

Will go walk down in a min and check then i can check when i leave, thats something i've heard but never paid loads of attention to lol

Cheers Sausage, will add to checklist. Turning on first time you will here the fuel being primed. If i then turn off and on again you don't hear it prime. Will double check though.

i ordered a new temp fan switch as that was suggested but will also get the new cam sensor as rich suggested

Lol, yeah sorry no idea why i put that. 100% nothing in vagcom. Video below of last night first startup on works carpark. Now goto the same place as usual and it cut out, this time i put my foot down and it then kicked back in Thanks in advance

Battery is less than a year old, car starts fine 9 out of 10 sometimes takes a couple of tries. just thought! - another symptom, once the car has started sometimes if i increase the revs it will cut out or if i do it slowly it will start to splutter around 2k any higher and it will cut out. If let go and it sits around 960-1k again. After a min if i try again it will be fine. Thanks

When i replaced the crank sensor i got even further than normal but every day without fail it did it in the same further place

Hi Sausage yeah lol. I forgot to add if i use the car for smaller journeys then it does it more. nothing comes up on the dash also i can put my foot on the accelerator and it seems to try and go but eventually it will just cut out. Cheers

Rich Did you ever find out the issue, so far i have replaced the Fuel Filter, Fuel pump, 109 relay, crank sensor (one at the front of the engine - bitch to replace lol). VCDS and other scanners have come up with no Faults. Mine does it without fail every day, i can get from home to work (22miles) car sits all day i drive home and at the same spot it cuts out. i can usually catch it and foot on clutch and restart while coasting and can get home without another issue. sometimes if i put my foot on the clutch and just before 10k i lift the clutch and sort of bump start and it carries on again. Morning Finally got everything i need for this, looking thrugh ElsaWIN they advise to remove the drive shaft from the gear box. Has anyone else done this or if i make sure the wheel doesnt drop would i be ok? thanks

Rich - from what i can see, i can just remove the lower parts but need to remove the lower center bit with the heater controls, gear stick etc aswell is that correct? Thanks

Lol Thanks Rich Well i tried to remove the passenger dash part that covers the heater blower and thought it was a case of undoing the 7 screws above and below the shelf. Oh no that would be too simple lol. Rich i searched the forum and you had a pdf that showed instructions for dash removal - have you still got it? Thanks

Nice one, no owls with this one, it sounded like a very quiet train but only when i went round corners. Its the only thing left i haven't replaced yet so must be the bushes/bearings Will try the kick tonight before i leave work as its hit 1c round here now.

Morning All Sods Law the weather starts to get cold and the heater fan has packed in. It started to make noise when i went round corners but being a lazy sod didn't bother replacing there and then. Do i need to remove the dash to replace it? Thanks

Afternoon All My bushes need replacing but all garages i speak to say they only replace the whole wishbone. After looking online for part prices, I found a pair for £50 and the nut set from VW for £25. Total cost if I went to the garage is £170 as they said they aren't standard for mine as its the TDI Sport, Is that true?? Thanks
