Tomjw
So my car has recently developed a weird 'jolt' when I'm driving. It usually happens when I apply more acceleration and it sort of lags before it kicks in but the other day I was driving at a constant speed and it suddenly jolted then at the traffic lights it was idling up and down slightly. Its well overdue for a service and I know that oil leaks into the plug holes because the rocker cover gasket has gone so my guess is the plugs and nakered but just wondering if anyone has a better idea? Cheers Tom
tintin360
Check the spark plug wells, if they are covered in oil like mine were, just clean the oil out, remove spark plugs, I used tiger seal to seal the lip of each well where the rocker cover gasket is, let it dry then put in new spark plugs. Also try cleaning the throttle body
Tomjw
Check the spark plug wells, if they are covered in oil like mine were, just clean the oil out, remove spark plugs, I used tiger seal to seal the lip of each well where the rocker cover gasket is, let it dry then put in new spark plugs. Also try cleaning the throttle body Last time I changed the plugs the wells were filled with oil so ill use some high temp sealant and see if thats done the job A lot easier than changing the gasket! Cheers for the advice
tintin360
No worries, I had the same problem with the spark plug wells, it's a easy fix with the sealant, a lot cheaper then replacing the gasket.Let me know how you get on
VDubPo
im also having a problem with this lagging everytime i change gear, aswell as hunting in idle, how did you get on?
BlockHead
My Arosa has had the same problem for like two years now! One of the plugs is like a pool of oil at the minute, is it really as simple as covering it with sealant?! I've been putting it off just because I didn't wanna fork a couple hundred out for the repair.
Tomjw
I think i found what the problem was. Removed the leads and they fell apart from being soaked in oil! Removing the gasket soon and sealing with the new gasket sealer. Will let you know how i get on
BlockHead
I swapped my leads about 6 months back and it made it a LOT better, still occasionally boggy so be interesting to see where you get with this Any chance you could post pics mate?
