VWFTW
Hi Guys..I know there are lots of threads about Coilovers.. but now is the time for me to actually buy a set!!Does anyone know if AK Street Coilovers are any good?http://www.madmotors.co.uk/suspension/vw-suspension/vw-lupo-suspension/vw-lupo-coilovers/fk-vw-lupo-98-ak-street-coilovers.htmlThey are decent price of £205..I heard some mixed reviews on JOM Blueline Coilovers..So I am unsure at the moment..Thanks! Defcon5
I would hope they are better than the generic JOM/whatever ones. Very cheap for some proper branded coilovers that. Description is completely wrong though
madmanncfc
Ive got them on my lupo. Ive found them much better than the cheapo lowering kit i had on before and with them and my ARB the car handles brilliantly. They seem to be on a par with my mates FK Highsports mayby a little lower quality but certainly better than the cheapo ones.
Koop
What's the ride like?
VWFTW
Cheers for the feedback guys..Where did you get your set from?and What do you mean by the description is wrong? Thanks
madmanncfc
I cant remember where i got my set to be honest i think i may have been that website. The rides pretty smooth on normal roads and it stiffens up in the bends. The missus finds it a little bumpy on the little country roads round here but its not much worse than her standard fiesta.Ive been really pleased with them.As far as seizing up i cant comment as i use coilover socks so whenever i adjust them one turn with the c-spanner has them spinning easilly. VWFTW
According to this thread, people have been commenting on there.. that these coilovers aren't fully adjustable?http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=74325Is that correct mate?I don't mind it being abit bumpy.. has to be expected for that price! Thanks
Koop
Coilover socks? Whatever next, brake shoes? I'ma look into this nice one

madmanncfc
The rear is a fixed 40mm spring. That didnt matter to me as i have some FK Highsport rear springs and adjusters. You may be able to find some alternative springs from somewhere so that is a limitation of the kit i guess.Koop i laughed aswell but there fantastic things.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kirkey-Racing-Vinyl-Coilover-Covers-Protectors-Large-14-x-3-Red-Pair-/190637494438?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c62e150a6Those are similar to mine
VWFTW
Ahhh.. Fixed at 40mm..Thats no good, I can't be dealing with the hassle of getting different springs and adjusters..Don't know what to get now?! lol! Thanks again guys
Koop
Yours the 14" ones then madman? The 18" ones are a fiver cheaper for some reason, random. And yeah i was sold on these til the fixed rear drop bombshell, hmmm...
madmanncfc
Im not sure of the brand of mine as i got them from a mate who races motorcross if the longer ones are cheaper id say go for them. The rears a bit of a bugger but there are ways round it. VWFTW
Yeh, what a bombshell ay Koop..But yeah im going to give this company a ring tomorrow and find out ect!I may end up just gettin AP Coilovers from AwesomeGTI.. but they are expensive at £395..Hmmmmm... madmanncfc
The 40mm on the back i think is what looses them a lot of sales. I was lucky as id already got the super low rear springs for my previous suspension setup.
Koop
I'm still not fully ruling them out, quite like a bit of rake
VWFTW
Yeah that's a joke.. I may aswell get a set of lowering 40mm springs if I thought about going that low.. Haha! I saw a set of FK Highsport Coilovers for sale at like £413.. But I don't know if I want to spend that much money! lol
